Eventiquette #31 Talking Trash!
Lots of people's perception of event planning is glitz and glam. The fact of the matter is, not always. Some believe that we wave our event wands and POOF!
We have a beautiful space for your 200-plus guests' enjoyment and experience for 3-4 hours. Ha! I won't touch on that yet, but I will touch on after dusk clears. 4 or so hours later that same beautiful space, your 300-plus guests will have it looking like a Category 5 Hurricane went through it.
Pieces of food stuck on the floor, cake icing smeared all over everything, drink puddles everywhere, smells of alcohol-drenched table linens, 400 bottles of beer on the wall, piles of retired decor pieces, and leftover food everywhere.
Usually, venues require that you remove those items immediately after the event or the hosts will forfeit their rental deposits or be assessed an extreme waste removal fee.
If a happy newlywed couple fails to plan thoroughly, they can be caught at the end of the event in their beautiful bridal wear, cleaning up event waste from their 500-plus guests and handling garbage made from that mass of people.
