Everybody's journey to becoming a pilot is different. This is mine. ✈️
I'm Cal, an Aerospace Engineer from Australia and I'm learning to fly.
From a young age I was fascinated by flight but coming from a family of which no one was involved in aviation the exposure I got was on commercial jets. Our family knew so little about planes that my mum made us hold hands across the isle and pray for a safe takeoff. It freaked me out!
Fascination and fear led me to pursue a career as an Aerospace Engineer (someone who designs, builds and tests aircraft/spacecraft). I work with aircraft everyday and am captivated by anything that moves through the sky. So much so that I wanted to move through the sky myself! I have learned that when you are interested in something, you should go explore it no questions asked. That kicked off my adventure to learning how to fly.
I hope that sharing my stories inspires someone to chase after incredible experiences, challenge themselves, and to keep smiling.

One small step for a student pilot, one giant leap for my channel’s upload schedule 🚀
This video captures the experience of my first ever checkride where I was awarded my Recreational Pilot Certificate in Australia. What an extraordinary year and I’m glad it all came together in the end.
Moving to the US and will hunt down a PPL - wish me luck! (It’s going pretty decent).
Massive thanks to @berniebrown9115 for your patience! This one is for you sir 🫡
