This channel is the video journal of one of the best friends I have had in my life so far. He exceeds everything I thought we could do. He has made me do so many new things and push myself to different limits. There are things about me that have been changed by him that are not on the channel except in glimpses. This channel is dedicated to being Zane's Dad. In the years while I am posting these videos it is my most favorite thing to be.

Zane was recently hit with a tick-borne virus, which has definitely sharpened my awareness about what’s crawling around out there. He’s on Frontline like clockwork, I check him constantly, and yea he lives on the furniture, so I’m basically running a full-time tick sweeps at home too.
I’ve been bitten plenty myself, including a few monster bites that put me on precautionary meds three different times. Still, we’re not retreating from the trails. Zane’s a Ridgeback. Telling him we’re skipping parks is like taking a teenager’s phone. Ain’t worth it!
What we are doing is staying smart. Warmer winters mean ticks get more time to thrive, and Lyme isn’t something to shrug off. Zane’s virus may have passed or it may just go dormant, so I’m keeping a close eye on him. That’s part of what shapes this channel and the Trails & Ticks content.
If you watch our walks, my hope is you leave a little more entertained, a little more informed, and maybe a little more prepared for what’s hiding in the tall grass.

We did NOT get a fourth day in a row of chasing those little deer. We were just a few minutes off schedule and they were just hanging by the tree line.
I let Zane off his leash to see if he wanted to give it a try and he opted to just run in a different direction instead. Not a bad direction since we had an awesome sunrise,

We had a break in recent weeks between videos. So it is really incredible that this channel was still getting views and even a few new subscribers. Thank you, my love of this dog and my time with him has been a part of life I have enjoyed sharing.
