Home to older HO&G scale DC trains and layout work. Lot of vintage DC locomotive power with some newer offerings. Also, a splash of railfanning, travel&Ford performance.
I’ve been working on something special for the layout, and I think I’ve done something that hasn't been seen before in the model railroading community!
Witness this epic 4D graffiti transformation as the art leaps from the railcar right into action! I’ve been experimenting with this effect to bring a new dimension to HO scale modeling.

I recently came across this vintage surveyor’s transit, and it’s a fascinating piece of equipment.
As someone who spends a lot of time researching local history and the development of railways like the CASO, it’s incredible to think that precision instruments just like this one were essential for mapping out the routes and engineering the infrastructure that shaped our area.
What’s even better is the history I found inside the case. It’s a genuine Keuffel & Esser (K&E) instrument. Even cooler, I found a service tag inside the lid showing that it was professionally repaired and maintained by Keuffel & Esser of Canada, Ltd. in Montreal.
The "9030" marked on the outside of the box likely served as an inventory or asset tag back when this was a hard-working tool in the field. It wasn’t just a display piece; it was a vital part of someone's daily work gear.
Always love uncovering these little connections to the past!
🚂 Look what the kids dug up! 🚂 The kids were doing a clean-up job and brought me this absolute beauty of a find: an authentic, vintage CNR (Canadian National Railways) four-way railroad switch lamp!
You can see the original mounting bracket on the bottom left that used to slide right onto the switch stand spindle, and it still has that perfect, authentic patina.
What makes this one really unique is the lens configuration. Instead of the usual two greens and two reds, this one has three green lenses and one red lens. On the railroad, this specific setup was typically used for derails or safety switches protecting a main line. It would show green from three sides when the track was clear, but turn that single red lens toward an oncoming train when the derail was applied.
It is a fantastic piece of full-scale Canadian rail history to add to the room!
What do you guys think? Should I leave it exactly as-is with all that original history on it, or give it a gentle clean-up? Let me know in the comments if you have any old switch lamps in your collection! 👇
