Welcome to the Best-Shaped State of Michigan! My name is Kosta and I garden in Zone 6b, Macomb Township, Michigan (Metro Detroit).
I spend a lot of time wondering if my plants are still alive and looking at new plants to eventually replace those that succumb.
Lawn Care is a hobby I enjoy & I've been "the guy with the nice lawn" for the past decade. I've recently turned my gaze towards gardening & improving my landscaping design. I enjoy learning about plants, trees, shrubs, and flowers. My current goal is to successfully grow dahlias from tubers, currently 0-2. There’s always next year!
This is my trial & error journey of un-aliving plants in the pursuit of one day having less lawn… and less anxiety.

Bluegrass be blue-ing! Love this time of year after a day of rain and the lawn looks as good as it’s gonna get. Sweet Spot Mowing Height mostly at 2.4” and the curve around garden bed dropped to 1.8” all on the OG Ego 20” mower.

I still don’t have the heart to pitch these dahlias… but highly doubt they’ll ever bloom. They look better after dropping their dead foliage after the past day of rain, but 7-months of a bummer with no flowers. Rip City on left, Fairway Spur on right.
