The fastest docket isn't automatically the best docket.

If you have new evidence, your strategy may be different than if everything you need is already in your claims file.

And if you believe your testimony is important, you may need to think differently again.

We'll explain what each docket allows, what it doesn't allow, and the strategic questions you should ask BEFORE checking that box on VA Form 10182.

📌 Your 4-Step Strategy to Submit Missing Surgery Evidence:
📋 1. Use VA Form 20-0995
Since a decision was already issued, file a Supplemental Claim using VA Form 20-0995. This is the correct form to introduce "New & Relevant" evidence the VA didn't consider.

🏥 2. Gather Your Surgical Records
Get copies of your:

Complete operative reports

Hospital discharge summaries & post-op progress notes
(If done outside the VA, upload the records directly or submit VA Form 21-4142 so the VA can request them).

✍️ 3. Include VA Form 21-4138 (Statement in Support of Claim)
Write a quick note: "The attached surgical records were omitted from the Evidence List on my recent Decision Letter. This surgery demonstrates increased severity and functional loss warranting a higher rating."

💻 4. Submit on VA.gov
Upload everything directly through VA.gov for the fastest processing and timestamp.
