Okay guys, I need some feedback. What are your thoughts on LinkedIn? Are you on there because you need to be? Never been on? Love it? Can't stand it?
Cuz I have some thoughts, and I'm curious where everyone else stands. š

Studying for the CPC exam? Here are 3 must-dos:
1ļøā£ Know your books ā Tab, highlight, and be familiar with the layout. Know where to find your illustrations, guidelines, and appendices.
2ļøā£ Practice, practice, practice ā Timed practice exams are your best friend. Review the questions you didnāt get right. Analyze if the mistakes were due to errors in reading the question, misunderstanding a guideline, or maybe just clicking the wrong answer.
3ļøā£ Donāt just memorizeāapply ā Focus on guidelines and scenarios. Get familiar enough with the guidelines that if you see a question on a topic, you know if thereās a guideline you need to reference.
Remember: the CPC isnāt testing if you know how to look up a code. Itās testing how you interpret and apply the coding guidelines.

I've heard some people swear their remote work day changes when they start out with getting in proper office attire. I am 100% team pajama bottoms -- I want to be as comfy as possible while I'm working. However, I will put on a nice top with my pajama bottoms while I'm presenting.
Have you tried the "dress for success" method and did it help? Because I just don't know that I can give up my comfy clothes. That seems like a lot of extra laundry. š

When Iām working, I donāt usually listen to podcasts. These days Iām not a regular podcast listener at all, but I do love having DisneyFoodBlog on YouTube playing on one of my screens. Itās like a little slice of Disney magic while I work.
Music and podcasts are great, but when I really need to concentrate, I usually have to pause them. Sometimes silence is the only thing that keeps me in focus.
š What about you? Do you get more done with podcasts, playlists, or peace and quiet?

Back in 2015, I thought I had āmade it.ā I was speaking at AAPC HealthCon in Las Vegas, and at that point in my career, it felt like the peak. There was nothing bigger I could imagine than presenting at a national conference.
But when it was over and the dust settled, I realized something important. The top is never really the top.
I needed to set new goals. Higher. Bigger. Better. Stronger.
That shift changed everything. What I discovered was that every time I reached what I thought was the highest point, there were new ways to push myself even further. New ways to elevate not only my own career but also the industry and community I care so much about.
The real growth came from leaning into my strengths, following my passions, and finding opportunities that I never even knew were possible.
If you feel like youāve hit your peak, remember this: thereās always another level waiting for you.

Itās the first day of Autumn! When you think of Autumn, you probably picture cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice, and raking leaves. In the coding world, autumn activities sometimes end up looking like this:
š Y93.H1 ā Activity, raking leaves
š W21.02XA ā Struck by football (weekend tailgate injuries, anyone?)
š W61.42XA ā Struck by turkey (yes, thereās a code for that too⦠just in time for Thanksgiving)
š F51.4 - Night Terrors (too many horror movie marathons!)
š F40.298 ā Other specified phobia (clowns. š±)

Behind every 10-15 minute video is hours of prep, notes, and a few awkward outtakes. Hereās a peek at my behind-the-scenes world. I like having multiple areas and setups so it doesnāt look the same all the time. Low-energy days are all about planning, prep, and scheduling. Next is makeup and then lights, camera, action! Itās never completely smooth. Some days I might be on slide 17 and realize I have the wrong answer circled and have to figure out if I need to re-record or can fix it in post. But itās always worth it.

Studying for the CPC exam can feel overwhelming. Thereās so much information, and itās hard to hone in on what is more likely to be on your exam. But there are some clear signs that youāre on track. If these sound like you, you might be closer than you think:
1. You know your guidelines.
You donāt just skim them, you can apply them to real-world coding scenarios with confidence. You may not have them all memorized (and you donāt need to!), but you know when to reference and apply them.
2. You can manage your time.
Practice exams are tough, but if you can pace yourself to get through all the questions, youāre building the right exam-day stamina.
3. Youāve practiced with intent.
Itās not about memorizing answers. Youāve worked through case examples, highlighted your books, and developed strategies to navigate tricky questions. If youāre getting at least an 80% on practice exams, itās a good indicator youāre ready for exam day.
If you see yourself in these, give yourself some credit. You may be more ready than you realize.

Local chapter officer elections are next month. This is your chance to step up and make a real difference in our coding community.
Many people rely on local chapters for CEUs, networking opportunities, and job leads. Chapters allow coders in your area to connect, learn from more experienced pros, and get insights and education.
Chapter officers are volunteers that keep everything running and spending a few hours at the beginning of the year doing prep work can make the running the rest of the year a lot smoother. Serving on your chapter strengthens leadership skills, builds community, and looks great on your resume. Being elected means you can help shape local chapter decisions, programming, and member support.
Elections are held every October and officers serve from January through December. Interested in running or nominating someone? Contact your local chapter leaders now. It is a chance to give back, build a stronger community, and grow personally and professionally.
