Australia Storm Chasing

Australian storm chaser & forecaster based in Brisbane, Queensland. ⛈️⚡🌪️

Gday, my name is Matt ☺️I mainly chase storms around South East Queensland but I sometimes chase in different states or areas when there's a decent setup. Along with storm chasing videos, I also post forecast videos, severe weather updates and community posts throughout the season. 🌩️

I've had a passion for storms and meteorology since 2019, started storm chasing in December 2023, and started this channel in January 2025. I'm always trying to improve my forecasting and hopefully capture Australia's best storms.⛈️

Thanks for checking out the channel and I hope you enjoy the videos! Happy chasing ❤️

Australia Storm Chasing

Widespread temperatures nearing or exceeding 30 degrees have happened in Brisbane and SEQLD today with the coming days possibly being even warmer before cooling down again around Monday. ☀️

As for my storm season video that I made the poll about yesterday, the BOM outlook is not out yet but when it is I will start making the video. ⚡️

Cheers, Matt ☺️

Check this out legends - amazing video regarding this Australian storm season and I would recommend it instead of the media/news forecasts.

Very hot temperatures are starting to show up in the forecast models for SEQLD and NENSW. This can and probably will change, but as of now, around September 6, temperatures in Brisbane are forecast to reach around 33°C, with the days before also sitting in the 27–32°C range. ☀️

Stay cool everyone! Cheers, Matt ☺️

Pretty warm in brissy today - the next 3 days are probably going to be pretty warm days for August as well in Brisbane - as for the severe storm situation in NSW tomorrow, the areas forecast to be hit are still pretty similar to what was forecasted yesterday but the storm intensity on the forecast has gone slightly up especially for areas around Grafton to just south of Coffs Harbour and very small hail is a slim chance. Areas inside the red in this map are areas with the chance of a storm while areas inside the yellow are areas with storms likely and one or two possibly being severe (on the low end of severe however). Stay safe in NE and CE NSW tomorrow and pay attention to warnings just incase. This probably won’t be anything too severe however so I urge you not to stress.⚡️☀️

Also some severe storms are ongoing near areas like Wagga Wagga and Canberra right now so stay aware of that and widespread rainfall is coming for a large majority of the east coast from now to tomorrow morning. ⚠️

Cheers, Matt ☺️

Update on the Wednesday August 26th 2026 storm outbreak. The risk for strong thunderstorms looks like it will be in areas between Grafton and Newcastle at around 12pm-3pm on Wednesday. CAPE numbers on the forecast have dropped down to around 1.3k for NENSW but that still can produce some nice storms. As for SEQLD, the event is going to be more of a rain event than a storm event and it will occur during the early morning hours on Wednesday. If the storms in NSW are severe, it would most likely only be for heavy rain or isolated damaging wind gusts. The forecast still could change but it is now getting more certain.⚡️

Thanks for reading. Keep an eye on the forecast on Wednesday. Cheers, Matt ☺️

Some severe storms are possible this Wednesday across eastern NSW and SEQLD. CAPE numbers are inflated (especially near Coffs Harbour) and are in the 2000s which is crazy for August as they are October - early November CAPE numbers. There is also going to be decent temperatures and wind shear so anything severe getting itself going is not out of the question this Wednesday. This is still far out and could change but it is now worth keeping an eye on. ⛈️

Cheers, Matt ☺️
