*Update*
The Shining Explained is officially stuck in copyright hell.
I am doing everything I can to get the video published without risking a strike on my channel.
I'll be uploading it for the fourth time now, with even more edits to make it as transformative as possible.
Apologies for the delay.

About two months ago I was pleasantly surprised to see my Dead Don't Die video gaining traction in the algorithm. Although I didn't understand it's sudden rise in popularity I was happy that it was bringing more traffic to the channel. After checking my dashboard for what could be causing the increased views, I noticed that it had been copyright claimed... 3 years after being published.

I disputed the claim and then waited a month for a response (the maximum amount of time the claimant has). I have dealt with copyright claims in the past but never before has the claimant waited the full duration of the response window to make a decision. In all that time the ad revenue it's been generating has not been going to me, the creator of the work, even though it absolutely falls under fair use.

Until further notice, this video (The Dead Don't Die - How to Ruin The Audience's Investment) will be unlisted and possibly even deleted. The video is clearly transformative, does not intend to replace the original product, and adds significant content to the film which it is criticizing. I don't know how YouTube can let abuse like this slide but I will not stand for it. For the foreseeable future, no one will be making any money off of it.

If I choose to appeal the dispute I risk getting a strike on my channel. I've dealt with that process and received a strike in the past (2019). I learned my lesson. This case is not like that one.

Anyways, I've got even better videos coming out in short order. Been editing an absolute behemoth for the past few months. Literally the biggest project I've ever worked on. Stay tuned.
