It's been 5 years since my PvZ1 tier list video, and Replanted recently released. So I think it's about time I update my PvZ1 tier list. Not drastically different, but still.
Notable rises: Chomper, Scaredy-Shroom, Ice-Shroom, Threepeater and (grade change, same rank) Pumpkin
Notable drops: Tangle Kelp, Garlic
It is worth noting that currently in Replanted (unless last patch stealthly fixed it), Starfruit seems to deal more damage than intended, sometimes killing zombies in 7 hits instead of 10 when tested. Additionally, it more reliably shotguns Zombies at close-range, to the point it's able to consistently take out a Basic Zombie walking on its lane without help in the beginning of levels. If I were to take this odd behavior into account, Starfruit would almost certainly be ranked above Gloom-Shroom & become a contender for S+ tier (especially taking RIP mode into account), but I decided to stick to ranking Starfruit based on its GOTY edition behavior. With all that said & as I implied, Replanted Starfruit being overall better than Replanted Gloom-Shroom is my hot take.
What is your biggest fluke in your gaming career? Mine is beating Champion Gundyr in Dark Souls 3 on my first attempt, with a Heavy Zweihander, somehow
Hey everybody! At the beginning of this year I started learning the basics of Python to get familiar with programming in general. A couple of months of learning & practicing later, I started getting into Godot and got started on making my first game while learning along the way. 3 months of near constant work later, I finished my first game, which I had recently released at the end of July: Youmu's Cube Adventure! A precision-physics game inspired by the Ball Revamped series. This is my the result of my 7 months-long journey from knowing nothing & having zero experience, to finishing my first game. I also had posted updates about it on my second channel, including the trailer for the game.
It feels great to achieve my dream of making a sizable Youmu fangame. As for what I'm planning next, I'm not too sure. I think for now I'll go back to focusing on my health as well as grinding achievement hunting, my goal is obtaining 100 Steam ribbons in total. I plan on creating a second game next year, this time it will probably be inspired by the "Knight Vs. Giant" flash game, if anyone has heard of that one.
Lastly, I want to thank you guys, it is your support and interest over time that encouraged me to push my ambitions.
What do you dislike the most about one of your favorite games?
For me, Chapter 7 & 8 of CrossCode is by far my least favorite stretch of the game, mainly due to it being rather tedious on repeat playthroughs. Especially Chapter 8 which basically puts the story & pacing into a halt.
For fun, what is your favorite game as well as least favorite game you've beaten this year so far? For me, I haven't played that many games this year so far (Been mainly focused on making my first game), but I beat Library of Ruina in January and the game is actually really special & memorable to the point it's now in my top 15 favorite games, even though there are a few parts of the game that I find poorly designed or drawn out. The highs are just that high that it more than makes up for those.
As for my least favorite game this year so far, it would be The Adventure Pals. It's well made & polished but I just found the game too simple & drawn out and I wasn't really the target audience for it. Garfield Kart Furious Racing is objectively the worst I have played (and 100%'d) this year, but that one is funny bad and was a lot more entertaining to me.
Hello! Today I turned 25 years old. Throughout this year I've dedicated myself to finally going through my gaming backlog which I had neglected and mostly failed to play through for years beforehand. At the same time I also got into achievement hunting, I 100%'d 30 games this year so far. Other than that, I've also been slowly improving my lifestyle when it comes to sleep and diet, I eat fast food & do all-nighters less often now.
As for what I'm planning next, I decided that I will try to get into Gamedev next year and I've been weighting my options (I'm thinking Godot). My dream & goal is to create games that are somewhat reminiscent of the best late 2000s and early 2010s Flash games, and at the same time it's good to stick to smaller projects that are easier to chew (I know scope creep pretty well).

I wasn't paying attention while breezing through RIP mode and I forgot to bring Lily Pad in a level 🥀
This is also how I learned the game doesn't warn you if you bring Cattail without Lily Pad... (This also applies to GOTY edition, for the record)

You can play my game on Itch: shyguymask99.itch.io/youmus-cube-adventure or on Newgrounds: www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/991028 I also am releasing it on Steam as a free game, but that will come later this month.
