Well, Youtube's AI Age Verification is supposed to go live tomorrow. In case you all haven't seen, there's been a request by several people (most of them with a Microsoft Assistant Clippy profile pic) to boycott Youtube on the 13th. Ryo and I will both be joining in and not using Youtube or the Youtube app tomorrow. I will specify that I will open it in browser ONCE, only to check if our channel has been affected by the AI sweep, but after that, I will close it and will not watch anything on there for the whole day. This isn't a call to action, and we're not asking others to join in, but we just wanted to state that the event IS happening. We won't think less of you if you use the site/app tomorrow. Gotta get your entertainment and background noise from somewhere, right? For me, I'll be catching up on some anime that's been in my backlog for a while.
Anyway, good luck tomorrow, everybody. May the AI Overlords NOT smite your Youtube accounts.

Hey, everyone, got a possible update concerning the future of the channel. On August 13th, Youtube will be enacting AI-based age verification for users. Reportedly, it will take various factors into account, such as watch history and account age. The FlashingBlades channel's watch history is primarily related to our content, with things like MegaMan and Transformers (which the website recognizes as "for kids"), and the channel is only 10 years old. Should this type of verification fail, Youtube says the next verification step is by giving their AI system a selfie, and if THAT fails, we're supposed to provide a government ID or credit card info. Neither Ryo nor I are on board with this, so we've both agreed that if we lose access to our account because of this, we will be jumping ship and moving to a different platform. Currently the plan is to continue streaming on Twitch, and possibly use Vimeo for video uploads. There IS a possibility we WON'T get locked out because they ALREADY have our info since we are monetized, but in the event we get blocked, we wanted to have a backup plan, and to let you know where to find us. I plan to make a video announcement later, as well as posting the same message on Twitter.

As much as we hate it, we're going to be taking a temporary hiatus, outside of the occasional stream, and finishing up the few videos we already have close to completion. We have about 5 or 6 videos already in-production, so we'll get those posted, but won't plan or announce any new projects until the hiatus is over. Both Ryo and I are dealing with separate IRL stuff that is taking up too much time and energy, and we can't really focus on content creation at the moment. In what time I CAN make outside of work and tending to things at home, I'm going to try to passively work on some more scripts for future videos and footage gathering for the Starforce Iceberg, but any other major projects that are not actively in the works now are on hold.
