Todd Snider is perhaps the quintessential postmodern troubadour, toiling away on the folk and Americana circuits year after year, never gaining a hit yet always growing his audience. For a while, it seemed as though he could ride the post-Nirvana alt-rock wave, but his 1994 debut Songs for the Daily Planet peaked at number 23 on Billboard's Heatseeker chart, with its accompanying single "Talkin' Seattle Grunge Rock Blues" not managing to be a novelty fluke. While that very title hints at the humor that distinguishes Snider's catalog, his lively, witty songs also dig emotionally deeper. Sometimes he crested into the charts, but he always maintained an audience devoted to his wry quips and heart-rending ballads, qualities captured on such albums as 2019's Cash Cabin Sessions, Vol. 3 and 2021's First Agnostic Church of Hope and Wonder. 2022 saw the release of the concert LP Live: Return of the Storyteller.

Todd Snider’s title track High, Lonesome and Then Some is out today: toddsnider.net/thensome/

The song finds him on the other side of a breakup, looking back at what went wrong, and singing, “high, lonesome and then some / still looking for someone looking for someone like me.”

“Even cheaper than free. A song is all that anybody ever got outta fallin for a guy like me,” Snider says of the song.

Recorded at home in February, the track features TS overdubbing triplets on his Epiphone and playing live on Aaron Lee Tasjan’s 1975 Gibson ES-335 through Rob Crowell’s Garnet Stencil Amp.

A new photo series by Angelina Castillo, shot where the record was made, captures Todd in the space that shaped the album.

Alongside the single comes a new High, Lonesome hoodie, with signed CDs and LPs also available for pre-order in the official shop.

“Chris Robinson and I mail each other different kinds of writings a lot and this song came out of that," says TS.
"When I was trying to talk a woman, or myself, or a fellow musician, or everybody else, into extending the adventure, or suspending the adolescence, and not giving up on me.”

HIGH, LONESOME AND THEN SOME. Todd Snider’s 15th studio album arrives on Oct 17.

“While We Still Have a Chance,” the first single co-written with Chris Robinson, is available now.

Produced by Aaron Lee Tasjan, Robbie Crowell, and Joe Bisirri, the record is a stripped-down, juke-joint album of nine tracks, each steeped in the blues.

This release is accompanied by exclusive photos from Stacie Huckeba, capturing Todd at his home where he recorded the album with an ace band, including Tasjan on electric guitar, Sterling Finlay on electric bass, and Robbie Crowell on drums.

Todd says: “Recently, I heard someone say ‘If you’re not angry, you’re not paying attention,’ so I tried it and so far so good. These are songs seeking soul, soul mate, maker, making out and mercy. The muse for this record was the sound of it. We made it on purpose.”

Limited-edition merch bundles include autographed CDs and vinyl, signed lyrics prints, new shirt and sticker designs, and a handful of 2025 VIP passes to celebrate the album.

Todd Snider

Hey Friend,

Todd is getting back in the tour saddle this week. After essentially taking the past year and a half off we thought the world would look a little different than it does now. Our hope was that this pandemic would be under control, and for a minute it did look like we were heading that way, but now things have gotten crazy again.

As we all know things continue to change with the virus spreading. Our main concerns are that everyone can safely attend the show and that we can keep the show on the road. To do that we think people testing ahead of attending a show is the best way to keep us all safe and we recommend everyone does that. We'll be doing the same regularly here on the bus. We have been talking with promoters and venues. It seems most will be requiring a negative test or proof of vaccination. Some shows may require people to wear masks. Some promoters are telling us that they are bound to city or county or the owner of the building/venue.

We ask that all ticket holders check with venues directly ahead of time for their current policy. We support the promoters and venues in the actions they need to take to try and mitigate as much of the risk as possible. We also believe in our community to do the right thing to take care of each other. After all that's what it's all about. We're all in this together. We'll all be singing B double E double R U N together soon. Please note this message was not made to start a debate, we're all doing the best that we can.

Hopefully see you out there on the road sometime this Summer and Fall.

NEW 2021 TODD SNIDER TOUR AND LIVE ALBUM IN THE MAKING ⸺ For details, visit: toddsnider.net/tour/
Todd Snider will release a new live record documenting his newly announced 2021 tour, entitled "Return of the Storyteller." The album will be recorded in over 50 music venues that are reopening across the country, with select songs released later in 2022. After a long hiatus from the road, the artist will return to his storytelling roots, filled with freshly inspired folklore and a new interactive concert experience. “After Coronavirus, I knew I wanted to release a live album of this tour and call it 'The Comeback Special.' Being unable to tour for more than a year has given me the opportunity to work on new songs and covers, and practice old material. I want the people to be part of my upcoming album and to release something special for those that missed live concerts as much as I have," said Snider. Continue reading: toddsnider.net/tour/
