Someone asked me “what got you into gardening?”

I kid you not.. My husband planted the seed, and The Most High opened my eyes to what was already within me. 🙌🏾 The purpose was there all along—I just needed to LISTEN.

🐍🌿 It eats everything that would tear up the garden! slugs, snails, insects, grubs… even small rodents 👀

All creatures have a purpose… except ticks. Ticks ain’t got no business here! 🤣

🌿 We’re stepping on medicine!

This is plantain, a common “weed” that can help you naturally:
• Soothe bug bites
• Calm skin irritation
• Help minor cuts heal

Leaves are the best part — crush or chew for a poultice. Stems are tougher and less potent, but can be used if needed.

The Most High really put what we need right under our feet!

🪻Foraging find on the land🪻

We came across Red Dead Nettle growing wild on our land, & this little plant is more useful than most people realize. It’s completely edible & packed with nutrients, especially in early spring when your body needs that boost.

Best time to harvest is early spring before it gets too mature—look for those fresh tops with the purple tint. You can harvest the tops, leaves, & flowers.

You can use it fresh in teas, toss it into salads, or dry it for later. It’s known to support allergies, inflammation, and overall immune health.

For tea, steep fresh or dried leaves in hot water for about 10–15 minutes.

To make a tincture: fill a jar about 3/4 full with fresh chopped plant, then cover completely with alcohol (like vodka). Seal it and let it sit in a cool, dark place for 4–6 weeks, shaking it every few days. Strain it out, and it’ll last for years.

You can also infuse it into oil for skin support. Just make sure you’re harvesting from clean areas—no sprays, no roadside contamination.

Another reminder that what we need is already growing around us. 🙌🏾🌱
