Episode 6: My First Job Paid Just ₦3,000 a Month | My Life Story in Enugu

After moving to Enugu, my uncle did everything he could to help me gain admission into Enugu State University. While waiting for my JAMB result and admission process, I got my very first job as a typist in a law firm.

My monthly salary was just ₦3,000, but I was grateful because every experience became a stepping stone. We prepared deeds of lease, tenancy agreements, land documentation, and other property-related legal documents. Looking back today, I can only smile because every stage of my journey made me stronger.

I never imagined that getting into the university would become one of the biggest challenges of my life.

In Episode 3 of my life story, I share how I passed my JAMB examination, wrote the Post-UTME, but couldn't meet the departmental cut-off mark. I was told to pay ₦50,000 to help secure admission, but I simply couldn't afford it.

Someone then advised me to go through a diploma programme so I could later switch to my desired course. I accepted the admission... but something unexpected happened that changed everything.

After I finished secondary school, my parents couldn't afford to send me to university. Instead, they enrolled me in a computer training center so I could learn skills like Microsoft Word, Excel, CorelDRAW, PageMaker, and Publisher, hoping I would get an office job.

I was grateful for the opportunity, but deep inside, I still had a dream of going to university.

Without telling anyone, I saved every little money I could from helping my mum sell farm produce and seasonal fruits. With support from my uncles and aunties, I secretly registered for JAMB because I believed that if I got admission, God would make a way.

This is more than my story—it's a message to every young person who feels limited by their circumstances.

Never let your present situation decide your future. Dreams take vision, determination, patience, courage, and faith. Rome was not built in a day.
