Hello everyone. I have a special and heartbreaking announcement from Raven to share with you:


Hello Bobsheaux Family,
Some of you may have noticed that I've been very quiet on social media lately. Losing Graybo was devastating. And today, I'm going to lose my best friend, Luna.


She hasn't been doing well for the past month or so. We assumed she'd developed a similar mass to the ones that ultimately took out Graybo and Paul. She stopped eating much. I have been pureeing chicken and mixing it with supplements to try to get her strength up, but it wasn't working. So we made an appointment at the vet for last Saturday.
Luna has gone from a petite 6.5 pounds at her healthiest to 3.94 pounds. She has no body fat. She is literally skin and bones. They took x-rays to rule out masses on her kidneys. They sent her home with a laxative, anti-nausea meds and an appetite stimulant. Nothing worked. She's become confused, she's not eating and is having trouble drinking water. She bats at the water with her paw and then tries to take a few laps or just stares at the water. They gave her subcutaneous fluids on Saturday but she's already dehydrated again. Almost $1K later, we brought her home to wait for the results of the blood work panel they did and a plan to get her better. Because of Labor Day, we didn't get the results until today and they were not what we hoped. They were what we feared.
My best friend has stage 3 kidney disease and is severely anemic. Her body is shutting down. The vet offered to show me how to do subcutaneous fluids at home a couple times a week, and more medicines to build up her red blood cells and a different appetite stimulant. She'd have to go on the renal diet that Graybo was on. But Luna struggles and stresses when we give her any kind of medication. She has always been a very picky eater, so I know that she won't eat the renal diet (I had to trick Graybo into eating it by mixing it with half a can of regular cat food...it must taste awful!) and she is suffering. I don't want to put her through any more. As much as my heart is broken, I have to put her first and let her go.
We will be adding her final expenses to the fundraiser we're doing with the weekly Storytime livestreams. We will not be streaming tomorrow, September 3rd as we will be in mourning. But please join us on September 10th to honor Luna's life and to find a way to cheer ourselves up, together. That's what family does. We need y'all to help us get through this.


Dear Luna,
My best friend, my therapuss, my baby. How I'm going to miss you! The world collapsed when Paul died in my arms. All of our hearts were broken when we had to let Graybo pass, just a month ago. I don't know if I can survive losing you, Luna. You saved my life during one of the most difficult times I've gone through. Without your nose in my ear, purring loudly to make sure I heard you, I wouldn't have made it out of that situation. I will never regret saving you or your siblings. I will never regret finding the strength to stand up to awful people and saying “NO! They are ALL coming with me.” I will never forget you. Please, stay close. I still see Paul out of the corner of my eye, rounding a corner or sitting in the window. I still see Graybo curled up on my son's bed often.
Luna, you are my heart forever and I'm so glad you were in my life. I know you'll be waiting for me when it's my time to go, right beside Paul, Graybo, Fifi, Angel, Henna, Bubba, Fishstick, Punch, Tuffy and Bubbles. I love you, my Luna. I won't let you suffer anymore.
