Let Love Rise

My journey back to joy is 5 years in the making…

It began in the Summer of 2020 when my lifelong friend & husband of 20 years and I were uncoupling. When I see this picture of myself 5 years ago, I see the heartbroken woman who was so lost, confused, scared, and utterly alone for the first time in her life. The song “{ I as I } Not as we” by Alanis Morisette plays through my ears.

In the Summer of 2021 the downward spiral continued until this moment of ultimate surrender captured on film and now the banner for Let Love Rise, which I created earlier that year. The grief is unbearable when I think about the series of losses that occurred that year. Michael Franti sings “I can still feel you” and a tear rolls down my cheek.

The stillness set in during the Summer of 2022 when I slowly began to take solo adventures to reconnect with myself and nature. Hope was the umbrella and I knew that I was on the right track by my surroundings and all the incredible people I began to meet. The Spirit Bird album by Xavier Rudd was my soundtrack that summer and it amplified my sense of hope and self love.

Last Summer, 2023, was the true beginning of feeling mostly joy instead of sorrow. I traveled all around the world from Europe to the Redwoods & Coast of Northern California where this picture was taken, to Alaska and the Orcas Islands. I dove deep into my spiritual world and haven’t looked back since. Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield encouraged my curiosity into experiencing the unknown with joy.

And now here we are at the onset of the Summer of 2024. I have no idea what adventures, encounters and opportunities lay before me, but I do know that I will venture into the unknown with joy in my heart and invite others to join me in the journey.
