Quick story about dreams and dedication.

In the first picture I am 21 years old.

Broken and carrying years of unprocessed trauma under the extra 50 lbs I carried as protection.

I smoked.

I drank.

I contemplated suicide daily.

I hated myself deeply.

It would be another few years of pain and deep suffering before I began a journey to a healthier me.

I stopped drinking in 2004 but that did not make life better- at first.

It taught me principles that i am profoundly grateful for today.

Principles like: Integrity, Perseverance, Self-compassion, Discipline and Service.

2005.

I did not have a car.

I took the bus.

Worked 2 jobs.

Went to graduate school.

Showed up.

Asked for help.

Committed to learning from others.

Fought through challenges.

Loss.

Heartache.

Step by step.

Day by day.

Sometimes minute by minute.

I was a smoker who told myself limiting things like, “I’m not a runner. I can’t do a push-up.”

So my external reality did not shift until the INSIDE began to shift.

Today, I live a life of health and wellness and I will NEVER take that for granted.

People will ask me, “What are you doing for the holidays?”

I say, “I don’t celebrate the holidays.”

To me- EVERY day alive is an incredible gift and opportunity to spread positive energy, hope and love.

So here is my message for you today and everyday…

Your biography is NOT your destiny.

I no longer smoke.

I no longer tell myself I can’t do things.

I work hard and show up and try to let people know that I am not special.

I just believe in dreams and dedication.

Dedicate yourself to living your best life.

Who you WERE yesterday is a story.

Write a new one-full of love and light.
