So stay tuned in. Singapore Math is a popular math program being used in many countries other than Singapore. It is based on using Models to solve word problems. The advantage of such a method over algebra is that it allows one to visualize the solution in its entirety. In fact though models are used, it is exactly similar to algebra, as models replace variables like x, y that are used in algebra. Hope your learn and have fun.

(1) Karen had twice the amount of money with Linda, After Karen spent $200, Linda had twice the amount of money left with Karen. How much money did Karen have at first?
(2) Veena had thrice as much money as Devi. After Veena spent $50, Devi had twice as much money as Veena. How much money did Vina have at first?
(3) Susan has twice as many sweets as Karen. After Susan ate 15 sweets, Karen had thrice as many sweets as Susan. How many sweets did Susan have at first?
(4) Susan has four times as many stickers as Carol. After Susan used 28 of her stickers, Carol had twice as many stickers as Susan. How many stickers did Susan have at first?
(5) Sarah baked thrice as many cookies as Mindy. After Sarah sold 45 of her cookies, Mindy had twice as many cookies as Sarah. How many cookies did Sarah bake?
