ਮੈਰਾਥਨ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਸ਼ਖਸੀਅਤ ਫੌਜਾ ਸਿੰਘ, ਜੋ 114 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਦੌੜਦੇ ਰਹੇ, ਹੁਣ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੇ।
ਅੱਜ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੇ ਨੇੜਲੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਬਿਆਸ ਵਿਚ ਸੈਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਇਕ ਵਾਹਨ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਟੱਕਰ ਮਾਰੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਫੌਜਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ 89 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਰਾਥਨ ਦੌੜਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪੱਧਰ 'ਤੇ ਕਈ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਤੋੜੇ।
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਿੰਮਤ, ਜਜ਼ਬੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਸਲੀ ਸਹਿਣਸ਼ੀਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕ ਵਜੋਂ ਪੂਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਦੌੜਾਕ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਕ ਯੁਗ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
