Rightly, you don’t give a shit. You’ve got your own shit to deal with. I hope that’s going well for you.
But, I keep meaning to create a new video and there's a part of me that thinks I need to explain why I haven’t made a video since July. Thus, I’ve been trying to create a video that explains where I’ve been. Every time, I try to create a script for that video, I send it to the trash because I know no one gives a fuck. The end result is that I’m not making videos.
In order to get past that point, I thought I’d just create a community post instead.
So, where have I been?
Nowhere really, I decided to stop making videos so I could focus on creating my next game. The plan was to get an MVP in place and then bring content creation back into my monthly schedule. However, I’ve had three false starts with my next game. I have a concept, or let's call it the outline of a story for a game, but I’ve struggled to create a game that fits that story. Let’s call it creator’s block.
That creator’s block has seeped over to content creation. If I’m not making games, I don’t have anything to talk about in a video. No game creation, no content. :-(
I have a plan for next year. It's not what I wanted but I think it's the right thing to do considering my current lack of creativity. I may talk about that in a future video.
I need to get back into the routine of creating content. I’m starting small with some simple content such as this.
I’m over on Bluesky. I find microblogging pretty enjoyable and I’m more active on that platform. It's also an opportunity to engage with like minded people.
Been suffering from a little burnout lately. Spent two weeks in the highlands to fix that problem. Even took my very old giant boulder out for several spins. Not sure I'm going to post a video this month because I want to get my next game to at least a playable version that I can pop on Steam. As always, appreciate all of you for subbing, watching and leaving feedback on my videos... Peace.
Wanted to thank everyone who watched and commented on my last video. The response was amazing. I wanted to respond to all the comments. I've just completed that. It took forever and I'm glad its done. Definitely got comment fatigue now. Again, thanks for watching, commenting and subbing. All are appreciated.
Unfortunately I won't be releasing a video in February. Firstly, I started a new contract, thus I'm spending a reasonable amount of energy understanding my new gigs work processes and code base. Secondly, we had a death in the family which consumed a good portion of February arranging the funeral, etc, etc.
All in all, February has been a tough month and something had to give, those things were this months video and progress on my next game. Hopefully, March will be a little less hectic.
Lastly, thanks for all the engagement on my last video and thanks to all the new subs. Your engagement and subscriptions are greatly appreciated.
I've a video coming out tomorrow. The first in a while. I've been busy creating a game which is now on Steam. The game is called Space Rock Armageddon and it was developed using Godot. In tomorrows video I talk about why I switched to Godot. You can see Space Rock Armageddon here on Steam - store.steampowered.com/app/2658560/Space_Rock_Arma… -
