A Story About the Power of Words | Teacher's Life-Changing Lesson

There was a teacher who was quick to anger and easily agitated. He often made decisions driven by his intense emotions and remained this way until one particular morning.

That day, he stood in the schoolyard, addressing the students on the first day of the school year. In a firm tone, he said, "Welcome to the first day of school in the new year," and then asked them to raise their cards high in their right hands.

All the children raised their right hands, except for a small child who mistakenly raised his card with his left hand. The teacher, determined to be strict, said to the child through the loudspeaker, "Raise your right hand, you fool!"

The little boy shook with fear, but he didn't respond to the teacher's command. The teacher rushed toward the boy like an arrow, intending to teach him his first lesson in obedience and discipline, and to make him an example for all the students.

However, as he approached the child, he was deeply saddened by the look of distress and overwhelming fear on the boy's innocent face. The teacher noticed that the boy's right arm was completely amputated. Tears welled up in the teacher's eyes, and he felt a bitterness and regret that he would never forget.

For the first time, he realized that he needed to learn many things about the principles of human life. From then on, he began to watch his words, thoughts, and actions carefully. He learned a great deal, with his first teacher being the small child whose delicate feelings he had hurt with his harsh words.

From that day forward, the teacher became known for his gentleness, politeness, and encouraging words toward everyone around him. He also became wise and balanced, no longer quick to judge.

My dear brother, be careful with your words and watch what you say. Your words often define your relationships with others. With a word, you can make someone happy, and with a word, you can sadden, anger, or even turn them into an enemy.

A word may slip from your mouth hastily or unintentionally, and you may find yourself trying to mend its effects for months or even years. You might not be able to heal the wound that word inflicted on the person to whom you said it.

Let your words be sweet in the ears of others, for kind words are the safety valve that keeps human relationships peaceful and calm.
