New video tomorrow... and we're getting back to weekly uploads!!
Videos will be a mix of behind the scenes / company featurettes on people we've been making films/ads for AND a new style of video we're internally calling "lighthouse videos"
Like a ship in the fog, a lot of the times it's unclear to us where exactly a future science or technology is. The goal of lighthouse videos is to try and plant a clear flag in the distance about a technology that's not quite commercializable to offer a clearer roadmap for innovation.
The past year I've been spending a lot of my time getting to know frontier scientists and innovators and we're finally ready to start sharing what we've been learning. It'll be less startups, but more science. But don't worry, that S3 ethos won't be going away.
I know our uploads severely dropped at the top of the year, founding Story last year forced me to focus on critical path things for our company. A lot has been going on behind the scenes and we're just about ready to share it with y'all. This company is what I've wanted to build since I was 9 — it sits at the intersection of science and sci-fi.
I can't thank you enough for your viewership and subscribing. I'm really excited about these new videos and getting back to creating/sharing more science and engineering stories.
A few weeks ago on my birthday (Jason here) March 4th I went on the Infinite Loops podcast with Jim O'Shaughnessy to discuss the building of Story Company and why I still believe MOVIES are a new frontier of art and communication.
Jim awarded myself and our team a fellowship in July of 2024 which gave me the backing and courage to take the leap into founding Story Company (the company that produces S3 as well as other unannounced projects I think you'll love if you love S3) — it was an honor finally sitdown with Jim on his show and discuss the progress and next steps for our team!
Hey y'all! We put the entire "New Space" movie soundtrack (and some unreleased songs) on YouTube (and streaming services) so you can play it in the background while you build your space hardware!
Gang, I have no idea why the YouTube algorithm dislikes our latest video so much — but we put A LOT of effort into it to give y'all a special Christmas episode about one of the most legendary engineering and innovation feats in human history!
Thank you for all of the support and subscribing this past year! Ad Astra, per aspera!
S3 is going to be changing a soon — the main episode will feature me in them as a host and will be a bit longer. This change will allow us to go more depth, talk about some of the realities of building hard things (like what we feature on the show), and hopefully feel more experiential. This should add more substance and technical depth to episodes.
You may notice we stopped doing sit down interviews. The reason being: I've always wanted to be a filmmaker not an interviewer. However, I realize we have unique access and ability to steal ~90 minutes of people's time to try and get their expertise into an interview format with main episodes on Saturdays and interviews on Sundays (how we used to do it).
So, should we bring them back? Or not, and experiment with our new iteration of the show?
You guys had a lot of questions about Reflect, so I flew down to LA to shoot a new interview with them on Tuesday. I hope this adds some clarity to what they're working on : )

So we changed the name of the channel back and we made another feature film. It'll be on the channel next Saturday.

Hey, Jason here! I could use your advice.
