St John the Baptist's teaching reminds us that holiness begins with honesty - before God and before ourselves.
His witness calls us to renounce pretence, resist falsehood, and speak a simple, courageous truth, even when it costs us comfort or praise.
Christ still stands among us, often unrecognised. The Advent call echoes today: clear the way, turn from sin, and make room for Him who comes not only once in history, but daily into hearts made humble and ready.
Discover the remarkable story behind Knock Airport - a project once dismissed as impossible. Born from the bold vision of Monsignor James Horan, the rural airport has become a thriving gateway for the west of Ireland, connecting communities, sustaining local economies and welcoming pilgrims to @KnockShrineCeremonies.
Forty years on, its success stands as a testament to faith, determination and the extraordinary impact one priest’s perseverance can have on an entire region.
Today the Church in England and Wales remembers the martyrs who signed the The Venerable English College, Rome’s Missionary Oath – a promise to return to England and Wales where the Mass was forbidden and death awaited them.
To accompany your preparations for Christmas, we offer this Quick Guide to Advent 2025 - a practical and prayerful aid to help you enter more deeply into this season of waiting and spiritual preparation.
✨ Advent reminds us that Christ’s coming is not only a moment in history, nor only His return at the end of time - it is also something tender and personal.
He longs to be born anew in our hearts. Every act of patience, every small conversion, every whispered prayer makes room for Him.
As we begin this holy season, may our longing echo the prophets, our hope shine like Mary’s, and our hearts become a place where Christ finds a warm welcome.
It is our wish that this Advent may become for you a gentle but real challenge - a true reform of life, both in our actions and in our hearts - a step higher in the spiritual life, one from which you do not descend when Christmas arrives.
👑 The Feast of Christ the King was born not from comfort, but from crisis. It reminds us that no power, no government, no storm of history can dethrone the sovereignty of Jesus. His Kingdom does not rise and fall with empires. It stands eternal.
This feast turns our eyes toward the end of time, not to frighten us, but to awaken us - to live as people who belong to a greater Kingdom, to measure our lives not by success or approval, but by faithfulness and love.
Christ does not rule by force, but by truth. Not by fear, but by mercy. He reigns from a throne of sacrifice and calls every heart to freedom.
May we live this day not as subjects of the world, but as citizens of His Kingdom 🙏
Their story isn’t finished. Today marks the anniversary of the beatification of the 85 martyrs of England and Wales - men who stood firm in faith unto death.
Mary’s “yes” began long before Nazareth. The Church remembers her Presentation not only as a moment in her childhood, but as the beginning of a life completely offered - heart, soul and will - to the Lord.
In the quiet faith of a little girl climbing the steps of the Temple, we glimpse the mystery of every vocation: to give ourselves wholly to God’s love, trusting that His grace will do great things in us.
From her earliest years, Mary’s whole being was turned towards God. It was formed in hidden prayer, in silent surrender, in the daily offering of her heart. Her path invites us to bring our own lives - ordinary as they may seem - into the presence of God, to let Him shape them into a song of praise.
May she teach us to live with hearts ready to say “yes” each day, so that our own souls, too, may magnify the Lord.
🕊️ Today we remember the signing of the Armistice in 1918 and pray for all who gave their lives in war.
As Catholics, we commend their souls to the mercy of Christ, the Prince of Peace. May our remembrance be more than silence - may it call us to prayer, conversion and a longing for the peace that only God can give.
✝️ Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
🙏 Today, as we pause in silence and reflect on the fallen in world wars and every conflict since, our remembrance is not only historical, but also spiritual.
We remember the young and the old; those who marched willingly and those who went in sorrow; those who fell unknown on foreign soil and those whose names are carved into stone at home. Each life speaks of love, sacrifice and a hope that outlasts violence.
We trust that beyond the battlefield stands the mercy of God. Many died with courage, generosity and prayer in their hearts. Among them were chaplains who carried Christ into places of unimaginable suffering - offering absolution to the dying, consoling the fearful and bringing the light of faith into darkness. Their witness reminds us that no place is too desolate for grace.
We also remember that the dead still belong to us. We can accompany them with our prayers, above all by helping them through the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
May our remembrance be more than sentiment. Let it become a work of charity: prayer for the departed, compassion for the wounded and a renewed longing for peace rooted in justice and truth.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. 🙏
