I had a conversation with my friend Dana that stuck with me.
I told her I make breakfast for my boys every morning, eggs, omelettes, the whole thing.
She looked at me and said:
“Pam… you’re spoiling them.”
I laughed.
But then I started noticing something.
My youngest began dictating exactly how he wanted his breakfast.
And if it wasn’t right, he wouldn’t eat it.
Complaints.
Attitude.
No appreciation.
That’s when it clicked:
This wasn’t about breakfast.
It was about standards.
So I changed the structure.
Every other day, they make their own breakfast.
If they want something more complex, I’ll teach them, but I’m no longer doing it daily.
At first, there was resistance.
But very quickly, something shifted.
They adapted.
They took responsibility.
And when it was my turn again?
Gratitude returned.
Same children.
Different structure.
I see this exact pattern in business all the time.
Most people think they have:
• A time problem
• A marketing problem
• A tools problem
But in reality, they have a structure problem.
Because their business is built on:
Sell once → get paid → start again from zero.
Every month.
That model creates pressure, inconsistency, and burnout.
The businesses that scale differently do one thing differently:
