One afternoon, I was sitting in my mom’s backyard doing absolutely nothing.

Just soaking up the sunlight, watching the trees move, and paying attention to all the tiny lives carrying on around me.

Iridescent dragonflies shimmered through the yard. Little lizards darted between things. And then, for just a moment, a hummingbird appeared.

It fluttered around one of the trees, impossibly tiny and impossibly fast.

And then it was gone.

It was such a small moment.

But it felt magical.

Like joy had stopped by to say hello. ✨

That’s the feeling behind A Visit From Joy.

I’ve spent much of my life creating through music, writing, photography, film and storytelling, but painting is a newer language I’m learning to speak.

Last year, I decided I wanted to take that part of myself seriously too.

So I enrolled in Milan Art Institute’s Mastery Program to deepen my skills, explore this new creative language, and discover what my own voice as a painter might become.

One of my early assignments is simple but terrifying: make the art, and actually offer it to the world.

So here she is.
