New IRCC Update
Work Permit Holders Can Study Without a Study Permit IRCC is introducing a temporary measure allowing eligible foreign nationals with valid work permits to study in Canada for up to 6 months without a study permit.
IRCC will begin notifying eligible work permit holders this week that they can study.
Key points:
* Study for up to 6 months or until the work permit expires, whichever comes first
* Full-time studies still require a study permit
* No need to apply for a study permit for eligible short-term studies
* Measure is in effect until December 31, 2027
* This is not a new pathway to come to Canada
This provides eligible workers already in Canada with greater flexibility to upgrade their skills and support Canada’s workforce needs.
