Heading home. Those are the last pictures from Lithuania, the last week of harvesting will begin tomorrow.

Katze is ready for the new adventure - sitting in the comfy travel box, lol! Are you travelling with your cats? I was over worried how she'll survive almost 2000 km drive, but the trip 3 weeks ago went flawles, ok, she disappeared in the hotel and I thought we lost her forever because the window was opened, but thank goodness, we found her in the room under very tricky table. It was very stressful 5 minutes!

So, we are back to the hotel in Poland, midway between LT and LU, and still have 10 hours drive, but that's just tomorrow, now it's all I want is sleep 😴

Thank you for following me in Lithuania and see you soon in my new video!

Pic of the day - Castles.

I have seen those castles hundreds of times, but I'll never get tired of them!

Panemunės castle was built more than 400 years ago for defence purposes, however it was never used and it's good so! It was a legend about an old treasure hidden somewhere inside, but it was never found. 😉 Now it's a hotel and a restaurant inside.

Sculptures are named Body V, VI, VII, whatever it means.

And RaudonÄ—s castle is almost 200 years older. It changed it's appearance several times in passing hundreds of years. The tower staircase is a chalenge for weak thigh muscles, but panoramic views from the top of it are worth every "oh" and "oops" on the way to the top.

Hugs from Lithuania, iki!

Pic of the day - oh this one is sooo nostalgic!

I was born in a tiny tiny village behind the forest. One day it was found a gravel bed not far from my grandparents house and as a ground water is close to the surface, the lake was formed. I loved coming there for take a bath as the water was very clear and soft! I learned that nowadays the lake is loved by the grass snakes, so not everyone is brave to take a bath.

Yesterday we went for a visit for a first time after quarter of age as it was rather difficult after we have sold my grandparents house. My grandfather built the house for my grandma and my mom was born there and me... Ok, technically I was born in town in maternity house, but this place is where my parents lived at the time and when they moved to the town, we still were spending every free minute at my grandparents and there were always the end of the road.

I met my childhood friend and she reminded me on the oldest pine tree. The roots are on the surface, when we were small, we loved to sit on them and sing looking at the meadow full of flowers and gazillions of chirping grasshoppers.

Oh, I am getting old and sentimental, so many memories!

You asked me how is a weather - it's just lovely +22 to 26°C, sunny and clear skies - we jumped over the Luxembourgish heat in great style. 😆

Pic of the day actually from yesterday- Kaunas, second large city in Lithuania.

St Michael Archangels church was built in the end of 19th century and stays at the beginning (or the end) of quite long pedestrian street (1,6 km).

It seems it have been built plenty of modern greenhouses since I was there for a last time, lol!

However the Funicular in Kaunas is one of the oldest in Europe from that type of machines which are still opearating. It was built in 1931.

On the last photo. On this place stayed very modern shopping centre for the Soviet standarts. Now is emptied for the new chain-shopping mall. The one with the same name has an aquarium inside wich containing few small sharks. 🦈

Thank you all for lovely birthday wishes!!!

Pic of the day - chic of 1930s

I am on the mission to promote my homeland, haha!

If you will ever be in Lithuania and take a trip from Kaunas to Klaipeda by the Nemunas river (and you should do so, because the road along the river is the most beautiful in Lithuania at any time of year), you HAVE to make a stop to Keltininkas in Å ilinÄ— location - very short menu, homemade and very fresh food and atmosphere of 1930s with breathtaking view on the river valley. Recommended recommended!

I am officially 52 from today on. Cheers to me!

Oh, and the stork! Somehow fits to the day, right?

Pic of the day - naïve art.

Hand painted houses. I don't know who's living in the first house, but always have to stop to enjoy it for awhile. Somebody in spirit of flower power?

The owner of the second house is a retired surgeon. She hand painted every single shutter herself.

P.S. you asked me about wild animals in Lithuanian forests. Indeed is full of foxes, hares, moose wilde pigs, but no more bears, unfortunately. Today I saw a flock of storks above my head, I was driving, so couldn't take a photo.

Pictures of the day.

Lithuania is a country of forests, rivers and lakes. Most of the lakes are looking like this one pictured - have very cosy size, the coasts are overgrown with bulrushes and usualy someone is taking a bath towards evening hour then the water seems warmer than in the day.

Pic of the day

My former colleague and friend owns a camping place. If you will ever be in Lithuania, look for the place called Medaus slÄ—nis (The Valley of Honey) in the small place Å ilinÄ—.
They also always have honey for sell. My favourite is the one from the beehives keept in the forest - it's green-ish colour and slightly pine tree tasting. Today we had just a lovely chat with my old friend and I would love to share the beauty we were surrounded with.

Evening walk yesterday at the golden hour. Small park near our place is dedicated to youth and children. They love to get compleately soaken jumping over numerous fountains on the stairs.

The oldest street in our tow has been full of merchants before the WWII, few old houses are still there.

My cousin's wife is a gardner, I wasn't able to count all the buterflies in her precious garden.

Hello dears,

for today - my childhood ice-cream in soft waffle cup (milk vanila taste if you ask me). Funny, I usually don't like an ice-cream served in cone, because of hard chocolate coated texture (I love chocolate, but hate things coated with chocolate, can't explain why). And those, in my hand getting a bit soggy at the end of the process, one have to act quite fast here, haha!

The mural on the wall was painted by the art class students maybe in the begging of 2000. Street musicians are giving a concert, ladies chilling at the coffee cup right on the pavement and someone taking a ride in red convertible car. Such an idyll!

One can always buy a fresh smoked fish in my small town. But the one they had at smokery was too big for us and the carp was the single sort they had today. We have to get back on Wednesday for more variety.

It seems, will be sunny and warm tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

Hugs from Lithuania! Iki:)
