Tommy Lawrence
Hello. My name is Tommy Lawrence. I am a self taught pianist. Here's my story on how I got started. Ever since I was little I've been obsessed in making music with different sounds. When I was 3 years old, I would make songs from the noise of a Nokia number pad. As I got older around the age of 7 my little sister was born and she had all sorts of kids toys like xylophones and mini pianos etc and I would sit there and make tunes on them. I then picked up and learned the flute through lessons at my school. I learnt how to read music from the flute lessons. At the age of 10 I got my very own keyboard and fell in love with it instantly. I knew this was the instrument I would want to play. So the flute lessons stopped, and I taught myself the piano from what I had learnt on the flute. That meant playing a note on the flute, then matching the note on the piano and working out which note was which. I have played ever since.
