The June 2026 7-Day Book Challenge is complete!

For those who don't know the #7DBC is a week-long writing challenge where we try to finish a project from start to finish, whether that's a short story, screenplay, novella, novel,e etc.

Y'all chose my project, Just One Bite, in. A few polls recently, which was a story about a vampire king who finds out his fated mate hates vampires and has to try to win her affection.

It was a blast to write. I did daily live streams and even did a 12-hour marathon on Saturday. I'm really proud of how much I wrote. The novel's set to be about 60K when completed and thanks to working all week, I knew I wouldn't get that far, but I did manage to write 40,068 words for the week.

What's next?

Well, for now I have to set aside Just One Bite and return to the Sultry Solstices series since it's on deadline. After that? Who knows?

Thank you to everyone who joined me for daily sprints, especially on Saturday for the 12-hour marathon. Y'all are awesome!

I debuted my first short story under the name **Kota Hegyes** today. *Presumed Dead* is the first in a seven short story series, each following one of seven sisters as they find romance with supernatural creatures, and it’s the start of a series in a larger world called the Sevenity Universe.

It was originally published in a short-run anthology called *Summer Solstice Seduction* in 2021, and has since been updated and expanded. This is a **short** and **sweet** paranormal romance story.

Some say the solstice is a time of magic. Keegan doesn’t know if he believes it, but despite him haunting a car he has no connection to and the fact that no one seems to be able to see him, he is certain of one thing—he’s not dead. On paper, Tara is a bad driver. With several accidents in only six months, she’s left with no choice but to purchase a car from a used car lot. Something cheap and sturdy that she can’t cause too much damage to. What she didn’t plan for was the ghost riding shotgun that keeps insisting he’s not dead, begging her to help him find his body.

As Keegan feels himself slipping away with the solstice, he and Tara are in a race against time to find his body and figure out how to return him to it before it’s too late.

Hey there!

Today starts the second 2026 7-Day Book Challenge where the goal is to write a draft in seven (7) days. Thank you to everyone who took part in the last three polls! The last one is now closed and we have a winner! Y’all decided, and I’ll be working on *Just One Bite* this week.

A vampire king discovers his fated mate is a woman who hates vampires and must win her love.

I’m so excited about this project, and I can’t wait to work on it. I’ll be streaming daily Monday through Friday and doing a 12-hour marathon on Saturday.

Trying to decide what I want to work on for the next 7-Day Book Challenge, which is happening 22-28 June 2026.

Recently, for funzies, I had my kids decide a random project for me to work on as a palette cleanser when I had time. (I haven't had time. Go figure.) But it got me thinking... I want to choose my 7DBC project the same way!

There's 8 projects to choose from, but YouTube only allows for 4 choices, so I'm going to do 2 polls, each with 4 choices, and then the final poll will pit the winners of those two head-to-head. So, here's the final poll.

Sad news everyone. . .

I went to edit footage the other day and discovered the 8-9 different videos I'd filmed all had audio issues I can't fix, so unfortunately I have to refilm all of them, and with starting a new job this past Monday, there's no way I'm going to be able to get it done before the weekend.

I'm bummed. Really bummed. I'd planned on getting a lot of videos edited and scheduled this weekend, so I could go on full hiatus in July, but it looks like Fate has other plans, so...

Here's the new plan.

This month, I'm only going to be doing live streams. Next month, I'm taking a full hiatus. *IF* I can get videos filmed, edited and uploaded by next month, I'll have videos then. Otherwise, I'll have nothing going live in July (nor will I be streaming) and I'll just come back strong in August with ALL THE VIDEOS!!!

With learning to juggle work/life balance again, there's too many plates to juggle, and they're starting to fall, so streams only this month on Saturday nights. Possibly videos next month although don't count your chicks yet.
