Kenny of All Trades

Thanks for checking out the channel. My name is Kenny and I live in Minnesota. I am sharing my passion and love for the great outdoors by bringing you on my explorations in my truck camper. Im a simple person with no more skills in the outdoors then the average person. With that being said I hope to show how easy, fun, and rewarding it can be to explore without plans. I have my fair share of mishaps, but that is what keeps life interesting. I really appreciate you following along with Toby and me.

A message from Toby and Mandi.
Kenny's shoulder surgery went well. We are taking good care of him while he rests. He wanted me to thank everyone for the emails and comments. Kenny is adjusting to using his left hand only. He wanted to apologize for not responding, but we are seeing all your wonderful comments and emails. He is planning on editing a "best of compilation video." He is also excited to answer questions that you had for him. He will start editing it as soon as he is feeling stronger. Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes. We appreciate your support. Kenny and Toby will see you soon!

Looks like I made a mistake. While posting Tuesdays video, I accidentally un-checked the box that says " send this video to subscribers' notifications."
Toby and I had a great time enjoying a peaceful remote campsite. We would love for you to join along if you missed it. Although Bob Ross would say, " Mistakes are happy accidents," Toby wouldn't be happy if you were not out there with us.

Toby turned 1 year old on Friday, and Tilli turned 9 on Saturday. We had planned a weekend of hiking and good food over the campfire to celebrate. But fate had other plans. I got off work Friday, and my vehicle broke down on the way home....my daily driver, not the camper truck. It took me 3 hours to limp it back to the house. I spent Saturday trying to diagnose the overheating issue. I flushed the block and radiator, I installed a new thermostat and cap, and I took off the water pump, which looked good. It is still overheating! I'm sure the headgaskests are toast. The good news is I found a 2007 Buick with the 3.8L motor with for cheap on Marketplace. It only has 104,000 miles! I guess the breakdown was a blessing in disguise. Plus, Toby and Tilli enjoyed spending the weekend together playing with their new toys. I'll see you all next week.

As a lot of you know, I've been working on my house the past few weeks. Recently, I started having issues with my septic system. I bought my house "as is with no inspections". I was counting on the original design back in 1981 to be accurate, but it was not. Somehow, I fell through the cracks when I purchased the home 10 years ago, and the county never looked at it.what it all boils down to is this past weekend I was helping a septic designer dig holes to do soil drain tests. The good news is I don't need a full Mound system. I just wanted to give you a heads up telling you what kept me and Toby from exploring this past weekend.

I've been putting off projects around the house for the past couple of years. Spending my weekends in the woods making videos is finally catching up to me. There are things I can't put off for another winter. So Toby and I have been working hard at home in hopes of making more videos soon. I'm not sure if I'll have everything done by the weekend. Replacing a window has turned into a home remodeling project! I appreciate your patience while I'm catching up at the house.

The work on the vehicles continued through the weekend. I got my daughters Jeep up and running. Mandis vehicle is also back on the road. I should have all the parts for the truck on Wednesday afternoon. The brake job turned into a bigger project than I anticipated. I found the slides on 4 calipers to be rusted in place. The two rear rotors were originals with 200,000 miles on them. They developed a rust ridge that made them almost impossible to slide over the parking brake shoes. But after a weekend of blood, sweat, and tears, I'm ready to install all new parts Wednesday evening. Even Toby was worn out after all the work last weekend. I did record a good part of the job. It may turn into a Patreon video eventually. I'll be back in the woods this weekend. Toby and I will see you next week.

This weekend we celebrated Adelle's high school graduation! Adelle has spent her 11th and 12th grade high school years attending community college for an associate's degree. She is continuing on with school for a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene. I'm so proud of her!
Adelle has been in a camping video every year. It is a tradition that I hope we can continue. If you haven't met Adelle, I'll give you a link to the videos.

I have to apologize, there will be no new video this week.
We started the adventure as usual. Toby and I headed north as soon as I got off work. I attempted to locate a few new dispersed campsites listed on the Chippawa National Forest website. But it wasn't working out. The sites were either occupied or completely overgrown. We drove down flooded trails in hopes of finding a spot where no one else was willing to go, but after 6 hours of driving, I came up empty handed. I spent the night at Walmart in Grand Rapids. Saturday morning, I woke up to rain on the camper. I looked at my arms and legs which were covered in bug bits. I knew I'd have to drive a couple hours north to find a campsite. It was then I decided to head back home. I spent the weekend wrenching in the garage and getting work done around the house. It was nice to catch up, sleep in, and have a weekend off. I really appreciate everyone who follows us along on the weekends. I know Toby will miss you guys!! We will see you next week.

This week was looking forward to sharing one of the best dispersed campsites I found to date! However, at one point I took the microphone off to record the sounds of nature, and I forgot to put it back on. By the time I realized my mistake it was to late, hours of recording had pasted. I screwed up! I keep a really tight schedule recording these videos. I threw in the towel when I realized there was only 15 hours left before I needed to punch the time clock Monday morning. I dream of making quality content full-time one day, for now I belong to the man Monday through Friday. Keep an eye out, I will be bringing you back to this spot in the future!
