Yesterday, October 1st 1990, Iron Maiden released their eighth studio album No Prayer for the Dying. (Yeah I'm a day late for this one) 😅
It was their first album with Janick Gers on guitar, who replaced Adrian Smith after he left the band during the pre-production phase, unhappy with the musical direction they were taking. Smith only contributed to one song, “Hooks in You”, which was the third track in the Charlotte the Harlot saga.
Although it received a mix of mostly neutral to negative reviews, the album reached number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and contains the band’s only UK Singles Chart number 1, “Bring Your Daughter… to the Slaughter”.
No Prayer for the Dying does not follow the continuity of the previous album covers, since Eddie no longer displays his lobotomy or cyborg enhancements.
The album title may have been inspired by the 1987 film A Prayer for the Dying.

The band also announced that "all profits of Sony Music Entertainment UK Ltd & Epic Records in UK from audio streams, downloads & physical sales will be donated to Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Foundation & Cure Parkinson’s"
Tomas Lindberg, iconic vocalist of At The Gates, passed away at 52 after battling adenoid cystic carcinoma. The Swedish metal pioneer, known for Slaughter of the Soul, died from cancer treatment complications.
The band shared: "Tomas, you were our inspiration. Forever missed." His raw voice defined melodic death metal.
