There’s something irresistible about the Time Travellers Curated Collection.
Those deep browns, copper tones, patina greens, reds, and all that delicious grunge… it’s a colour world that practically begs you to create something bold and beautifully worn-in. And the best part? You don’t have to limit yourself to tags or collages. This style works perfectly on decorative pieces too—objects you can actually use and enjoy every day.

For this class, I decided to build a box. Think of it as a treasure keeper, a gift for someone special, or a little storage piece that shows off your favourite steampunk aesthetic. And truly, it can go in so many directions—more feminine, more masculine, more vintage, more industrial. The collection gives you a huge playground to explore.

The techniques I’m sharing here are easy to adapt to any project. I started with rich brown tones, but the Effect Set includes six mica powders in beautiful, versatile colours—so you can go wherever your imagination takes you. There are also two effect pastes to choose from, making it simple to add texture, shine, or grunge just the way you like it.

In this class, I’ll show you how to use the Decoupage Fiber Paper as your colour guide, how to turn mica powders into your own metallic paint, and how to use that paint not only on the box itself but also to add highlights on embellishments and background elements. Mica powders really are the stars of the show here—they do everything.

We’ll also look at using Waxes for extra definition on the embellishments and the sides of the box, plus some lovelystenciling to bring in that little touch of sparkle. Every technique in this video can be taken to any surface you want to play on.
