Ottawa, KS - The Ottawa Municipal Pool will be closed for approximately three days beginning Thursday, June 11, 2026.
Pool attendees may have noticed a cloudy appearance to the water this season. This cloudiness was initiated from substantial rainfall right before pool opening on May 24, 2026. Pool staff and city crews have attempted multiple corrective actions including chemical adjustments, clarifiers, and repeated filter backwashing, all without achieving desired results.
After consulting with multiple industry professionals, it was determined the best course of action is to drain the pool and clean the entire basin to remove any particles introduced by the extensive rainfall. We hope to have the pool reopened by Monday, June 15 at the latest.
We know this is disappointing for families and we appreciate your patience as we address this issue. It is always our goal to provide high quality of life amenities for our community. Thank you for your understanding as we work toward this goal.
