🌍 Do you need to speak the local language to teach English abroad?
For many teaching opportunities, the answer is no. But learning a few useful phrases can make daily life easier and help you feel more connected to your new community.
Is it required to get hired? No, in most cases, but it's worth knowing some basics to really enjoy your experience. I recommend working with a tutor on Preply (this is how I learned Italian!) or finding a language exchange partner.
