If you are interested in Financial Freedom, Career & Personal Development, Technology, Life & Happiness, consider subscribing! Those are pretty broad topics, I know. But my belief is that everything in life is connected. There's no financial freedom without some form of career growth, no career growth without personal development and no personal development without life lessons. And, isn't happiness the main goal after all!
I worked in software engineering for 16+ years, about 11.5 of them with Amazon, leading product and engineering teams in core shopping experience. The rest of my career was spent in early stage startups, one of which I co-founded. I achieved financial independence and quit my full time job in late 2023. I've read widely and have also written 2 books.

Happy New Year!
Every year, I attempt to find a theme for the year (and beyond). In 2025, my theme was "Be consistent" in whatever you do. In 2026, my theme is "Control what you can". It may sound very simple, but we often miss this point. And simple things are often quite hard to do. Control what you can presents itself in many aspects of our lives.
For example. in your finances and investments, you cannot control what happens in the stock market. But you can control your lifestyle, your asset allocation, your discipline and how long you stay invested. People often given up on building wealth & achieving financial independence when they see volatility and their portfolios dip. But control and discipline are the cornerstones of long term wealth.
It is the same in your career. You may not see the same growth in position or pay every year. You may not be able to control exactly when you get promoted. But you can control the effort you put everyday into developing your skills and adding real value. In the long run, you will be rewarded.
So in the year(s) to come, don't stop doing what you can, just because things are not going according to your expectations. Control what you can!
What is the one positive change you want to see for yourself in 2026?

What makes you happy?
Happiness is a tricky issue for many of us. We sometimes ask ourselves, “Why am I not happy?” One of the reasons is the plain fact that we do not prioritise happiness. We do not make happiness our goal. While we think that achieving the (other) goals we have set in our lives will make us happy, many of us haven’t really verified this. So I set out to test this on my friends and family.
One of my friends said that his goal is to make a lot (X amount) of money. And I asked him a simple question: “Why?” “Why do you want to make a lot of money?” He did not have an immediate answer. He was, in fact, a bit taken aback by the question. He had assumed that it was a given that making a lot of money is something that everyone strives to do. While there is nothing wrong in making money, I would have at least expected him to tell me that money will make him happy. I asked him if the reason for attempting to make a lot of money was to be happy and he said yes. When we dived into this further, he hadn’t analyzed how much money he really needed. One of the things that came out of the conversation was that he was really chasing the freedom that money brings rather than the money itself.
A conversation with another friend was about growing quickly in her career. She stated that she was focused on getting to X position in the next 2 years. Again, I asked “why?” Why did she want to do that? She didn’t quite know. She thought that it was the obvious thing to do. Everyone was doing the same. She hadn’t even thought about whether that would make her truly happy. Again, there is nothing wrong in chasing career goals as long as you have ascertained that it will make you happy. If not, what’s the point?
There were other people who had goals for buying fancy things, building a big house, etc. The question was the same: “Why?” It’s important for us to ask ourselves this question. The bottom line is that most of us want to be happy. But we need to prioritise happiness and verify that the direction of our lives and the things that we are chasing will indeed make us happy.

New Year 2025: The one thing you should do
Have you been making plans (and resolutions) for 2025? While there are many things that I would like to do and accomplish in the coming year and the future, I was wondering if there is one thing that stands out as the most important. And it dawned on me that the specifics of what I do do not matter so much; what matters most is the consistency.
If there is only one thing you can do (differently) in 2025, be consistent. Whether it's about up-skilling yourself, achieving greater growth in your career or business, about your finances & growing your wealth, or anything else for that matter, be consistent in your efforts. Consistency, over a sustained period of time, is what separates those who achieve their goals and dreams from those who do not.
Watch the video on the Top 5 resolutions related to Financial Freedom that you should consider for 2025.

"Look at a stone cutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred-and-first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not the last blow that did it, but all that had gone before."
