At least 10 people have died in Karachi as an intense heatwave gripped the city, with temperatures soaring to 44.1°C, the highest recorded this year, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

Rescue officials from Edhi Foundation and Chhipa Welfare Association reported that several bodies were recovered from different parts of the city, including Manghopir, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Defence Phase VIII, Boat Basin, Liaquatabad, Surjani Town, Baldia Town, North Karachi, Mauripur Road, and the Superhighway. Some victims were pronounced dead after being shifted to hospitals.
Authorities said a number of the deaths are suspected to be linked to heatstroke, while others involved drug users, many of whom remain unidentified.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department stated that hot and humid weather conditions are likely to persist, with strong continental winds intensifying the heat, raising concerns for public health across Karachi. Residents have been advised to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure, and take precautionary measures during the ongoing heatwave.
