“I think you can hear on this tape what jazz is all about”. - Keith Jarrett
The complete documentation of a one-night only coming together of Keith Jarrett with Gary Peacock and Paul Motian: At the Deer Head Inn - The Complete Recordings 4-LP box set will be released on 22 August 2025.
“The music has the dash and the unabashed lyricism of Keith Jarrett’s best work” wrote Stereophile in a rave-review of the first selection from the intimate Deer Head Inn live recording, capturing Jarrett’s spontaneous and in retrospect historic return to the Pennsylvanian venue of his early years, alongside Gary Peacock and Paul Motian. The second release –titled The Old Country and released 30 years after the first volume in 2024 – was met with equal acclaim – The Guardian’s John Fordham called it “song-based jazz-imagining at its best”.
Here both albums are combined and released on vinyl for the very first time, spread across four LPs in two tip-on gatefold jackets and framed by a deluxe slipcase: The Complete Recordings. There won’t be a second print-run of this box-set, limiting it strictly to this edition.

Today sees the release of the 2-LP vinyl edition of New Vienna – At the Musikverein, 2016, the new album by Keith Jarrett, who celebrated his 80th birthday in May.
New Vienna is the fourth concert recording to be released from Keith Jarrett’s final European solo tour. It follows Munich 2016, Budapest Concert and Bordeaux Concert. Why New Vienna? As Jarrett aficionados will know, his discography already includes a legendary Vienna Concert (recorded at the Vienna State Opera) whose music, he once claimed, spoke “the language of the flame itself”, after long years of “courting the fire”. Keith Jarrett’s 2016 return to the Austrian capital brought the flames of inspiration to another historic location with lively acoustic properties, the Golden Hall of the Musikverein, where, at the start of the previous century, Schoenberg, Berg and Webern had premiered works that challenged and changed the course of modern music. New Vienna, shaping its new music in the moment, is near-encyclopedic in scope.

Solo piano improvisations recorded at two concerts in Tokyo and Osaka in 2002.
"ECM is marking a landmark in the life of an inspirational, fitfully indulgent, awesomely prolific musical giant with this recorded at two concerts in Japan in 2002. … This set is full of fascinating references, with Jarrett visiting dark, percussive labyrinths of sound like a less ferocious Cecil Taylor, a raindrop tone-poetry of spacey melodies slowly spreading out of slow chord-movements. … You constantly witness the intense, majestic dance of all the music that Jarrett has been through over the years." - John Fordham, The Guardian
Released on this day in 1998: Tokyo '96 Rediscover the recording here: ecm.lnk.to/Tokyo96
The Keith Jarrett’s Standards Trio returned to Japan in celebration of its 15th anniversary and played a sparkling live concert which maintains standards in every sense, recorded at the Orchard Hall in Tokyo on March 30, 1996. "Every time we play, we might be playing the same material, but it's a new planet." – Keith Jarrett
