The Pairinormal Carnival so far has probably got to be BBB’s COOLEST island … PROBABLY FLAT OUT EVER. I’LL SAY IT. Just from the fact that you can switch between forms of the ENTIRE ISLAND ALONE WITHOUT THE SONG RESTARTING is SOOOOOOOOO SICK. It’s something I’m sure we all thought would be cool but never thought they’d ACTUALLY IMPLEMENT IT THAT SEAMLESSLY, RIGHT?

Good ol’ fashioned breeding paired with a double edge sworded song and an INCREDIBLE atmosphere. The Carnival taking place in this gravitationally challenged void whilst being filled with all kinds of mechanical ruin and fun fair trinkets is soooo delightfully bizarre, and it can either be really whimsical or REALLYYY creepy depending on how you look at it and boy I’LL TELL YA’, I cannot stress enough JUST how INSURMOUNTABLY and I mean INCREDIBLY appropriate it is for it to be a Carnival of all things. (Not even an implied one, a literal one of which it was taken straight from the human world.) The Carnival setting throughout entertainment history has been utilized most commonly with both creepy and light hearted scenes, thus it’s spectacularly fitting to both its delightful major and dramatic minor ends of itself.

Seriously THE TONE SHIFT BETWEEN MODULATIONS IS SHARP VISUALLY, CONTEXTUALLY, AND AUDITORILY. Minor carnival is fucking tragic as hell. Dakktyl is 1 (one) certified “Eh, Sonny” tier ready to have a heart attack at a moments notice, and Jerm is straight up the only monster we actively probably legit see in pain in front of us… seriously.

Scallyrag’s minor form is the most tragic one.
Ya’ see, in the major form he’s all covered up but the minor form..?

My god, and the utilization of the sounds too between the carnival’s forms.
Arcorina (though objectively is an Ocarina) fills this delightful tiny organ role for a carnival setting/melody to this stereotypical theremin (but still ocarina) spooky fill in for the minor form.
Hairionette has this warm voice in the major whilst having a cold hollow shell voice in the minor.

I really could go on about all of them. Seriously. But I have MUCH more to say… CURRENCY WISE ANYWAY.

I think you might know what’s coming…

The most ABSOLUTE fucking HYPE THING ABOUT THIS WHOOOOLLLEEE ORDEAL… IS THE FUCKING WILD CARD FARM POTENTIAL??? LMFAOOOOOOO LIKE… ARE THE DEVS SUUUUREEE THEY WANNA GO THAT DIRECTION? WE’RE NOT EVEN GETTING THEM THROUGH THE NEXUS NUCLEUS YET AND YOU'RE SPEWING THEM VIA NORMAL MEANS LIKE THIS???

IT’S NOT EVEN THAT HARD TO GET SUCCESS ON THE CENTRI-FUGE. I mean MAKE NO MISTAKE THIS IS AMAZING. But the VALUE OF THESE THINGS ARE IMPRESSIVE. It’s like a 40+ diamond value per card.

Given the timing of the potential wild card farm, I find it hilarious how it has been timed in the midst of EPIC WUBLINS STILL RUNNING. LMAOOOOO

If they NERF THE CARD AMOUNTS YOU NEED TO FILL IN AN EGG’S ELEMENT COUNT (relative to its rarity), then THAT WOULD BE… fair game honestly BUT MAN I’D HATE TO GIVE THEM THAT IDEA.

It’s EVEN FUNNIER HOW WE GET A TURBO USELESS AMOUNT OF STAR POWER WHILST CASUALLY THROWING IN THE MOST COVETED CURRENCY IN THE GAME AT US LIKE NOTHING.

I mean they already nerfed the diamond production of Wublin island to hell and back (not just me right?) so maybe this is our justice.

Now, lastly. I have to admit, despite my glazing…

THE SONG… uh… SONGS(?) OF THE CARNIVAL ITSELF… don’t quite grasp me.

Don’t get me wrong, everything I said about its technicalities are really cool and the tricks being pulled are thoughtful as hell, but… I sat with both forms long enough and so far neither song exactly has me fully. I do enjoy them but I don’t LOVE them. Y’know? However, I think most of my feeling towards that is how not particularly filled out it feels and WADDYA’ KNOW, WE GOT A HEAP OF MORE PERFORMERS TO GO. So my head is WAY UP HIGH FOR THIS ONE, BABY.

I’m curious as to what the hell that 4 elemental is gonna’ look like. Seriously. I hope it’s the most horrifying thing we get in all of MSM…

Okay, let me tell ya’… LORD ALMIGHTY MECH ISLET IS MY JAMMMMM. CHRIST. GET A LOAD OF THIS SONG, BRO. IT’S THE SICKEST THING WE’VE HONESTLY GOT IN A WHILE. I’m inclined to say that not even Wublin nor workshop sounds this badass… (if they were even going for that all that much in the first place.)

Legit, mech islet is so damn good that I believe it’s one of the few (probably honestly only) MSM songs you can play the full thing out loud in public.

Seriously though, I don’t think there’s a single monster in this song that feels like they had no ideas for. Legit it’s so tightly composed and every contribution from every monster is not too much, not too little. I did have some argument for teetur-tauter being filler but no they very much are a vocal percussion that still adds to the song. I even hated Nitebear when I first heard him but after a few listens I was like “What the hell was I thinking?”

Also, justice for bellowfish because I think he sounds perfectly fine… ish. I DO HEAR the uncomfortable dissonance he tries to harmonize within himself but just because I can see what someone was going for doesn’t exactly set it in stone as a good idea. Still a very nice slow contrasting melody to the more action packed goings on of the song until the whole thing slows down to its pace. He did need an island to showcase his long note prestige after all.

Bogle, the inflation fetish primordial rocks. His flute addition fits right at home in a heavy beat, techno song like this. As a matter of fact, (people don’t understand me when I say this because I can’t explain myself well enough) mech islet really does have all the signature instruments of this kind of genre of early tropical sounding pop song. Accordion, Flutes, acoustic guitar, a heavy ass beat. I wish I could link examples but I would hear the catchiest (perhaps Mexican originating) pop songs very similar to mech and I think that’s why the composer took it in such a naturally cool direction.

Yeah, ik I glazed plasmasm and don’t get me wrong plas did make their own banger but LET’S BE REAL. OFFICIAL MECH ABSOLUTELY SWEEPS his (and everyone else’s predictions. Goddamn... It really gives me faith in BBB for pulling off shadow islet because judging by how locked tf in some animation in the shadow leaks were, I’m almost willing to believe they might actually be able to top Plasmasm’s… ALMOST… There are a lot of spectacular things (and I mean things I can really go in depth with) going on in their prediction and the possibility of the official shadow islet being inferior song wise is still very much there.

Luckily, by the time shadow islet comes out, I’ll still likely be right here to comment on it before I die! :D

The *Pairanormals* I honestly ever had a come and go liking to. After hearing they were the ethereals of the magical islands I was only ever like “Okay another damn monster that’s gonna take me ages to get…” Lo and behold, I still don’t have them all to this day damnit…

Hair’s contribution to psychic really does add quite a neat layer to the song (especially its minor form). Its minor form is oddly more appealing to look at than the major.

Owlesque is absolutely stellar (and honestly kinda horrifying) design wise from normal to mirror timelines and boasts a great chunky n’ funky wind with an aggressive catchy percussion for its minor form.

Arcorina I’m not crazy about at all, but again I love that minor melody it gots going on. It’s design however from both timelines I find cool as hell.

Shhimmer I find the weakest of all the Paironormals both design and sound wise. We have a single cymbal crash and… a steady cymbal beat. Wonderful…
Granted, minor does shhimm has a nice parade like feel going on with said beat.

Overall… uhhh yeah. Minor forms SWEEP.

Their overall concept and execution are absolutely sick but their breeding during different times of day gimmick IS SOOOOO UNNECESSARY.

It’s a shame because the only time I ever truly feel in love with them is their carnival debut. They have an absolutely stellar melody going on for the Haironnette verse, but I teleported the only two monsters on the whole island that gives me no unique combo whatsoever so lmfaooo, my god… but I’ll go into more detail about that in a later post.
