In the first of a series of videos where I make a walking stick from playing cards. This video addresses some of the stories behind the object, the character which make up part of a family mythology, and my initial attempt at rebuilding this lost artefact back in 2010. Since then my knowledge about making has improved so I'm having another go.
Highly recommend watching @timhunkin1 new series on components. I remember watching the original tv programs about modern machines and contraptions when I was very young and loving them. I even visiting his arcade in Southwold and enjoying the wry humour in his work. Essential viewing for anyone getting into making or needing inspiration to carry on.
My Moot_One CNC manual (with the cover drawn by the machine itself) got selected for an exhibition which will tour in the UK. You can find more information here: trinitybuoywharfdrawingprize.drawingprojects.uk/in… - Not sure if this means the CNC machine is the artist or me?
I don't normally share videos here from my CNC channel but I've reached a milestone and have released the digital plans for a CNC machine I designed and built. It's called the Moot_One. I specifically tried to make one which didn't need metal plates so someone with an even a belt driven CNC machine could make the plates. I used a material called Valchromat which is really easy to cut and colourful. In this video I draw the front page of a physical copy of the plans. Anyway, if anyone needs signatures forged or artworks copied let me know.
Save the date: 13th October 2018. I'll be opening up the workshop / studio with a live broadcast from 2pm GMT. There'll be no lasers, disco lights, smoke machines, pixel glitch art or guitars. There's two events: https://youtu.be/8Nhc2qswK5w or https://youtu.be/2aXLAY8LmzQ - and on the day, one will work and one will not. Also if you press the bell on the screen you'll get a reminder beforehand.
