This channel showcases works by ASCAP composer Anthony L. Sanchez (b. 1988) based in Savannah, GA via his self-publishing music company, ZEKE SPILLED INK MUSIC. Sanchez earned his D.M.A. in Composition from the University of Georgia. Dr. Sanchez concentrates on addressing aspects of Afro-Latin American and Caribbean musical identity and history in relation to the theory of transculturation. He has also traveled and researched Puerto Rican folkloric musical instruments and genres. Past projects include collaborations with the Chicago Cuatro Orchestra Project and scoring podcasts like the Canadian drama series Sticks Shift Incorporated (2020). In June 2018, Dr. Sanchez presented his book The Jíbaro and the Gaucho United in Music and Song: investigating the links between Argentine and Puerto Rican folk music. His latest book From Ring Shout to Bomba: Ethnographic Perceptions and Approaches to Music and Religion in the Gullah/Geechee and Afro-Latin Diasporas, was published in 2022.
