Chiara Civello is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose artistic life unfolds between Italy, the US and Brazil. Neither pop nor jazz, far from classifications, with six albums and an insatiable openness to the world, her music could be defined by a series of oxymorons: naturally sophisticated, global yet Italian.
In Boston and New York, she honed her craft and connected with figures like Burt Bacharach and Tony Bennett, who described her as “the best jazz singer of her generation”. She was the first Italian artist to record for the legendary Verve label. In Brazil, she found another home, collaborating with renowned artists such as Chico Buarque, Ana Carolina, Maria Gadú, Gilberto Gil, Daniel Jobim, and many others.
An adventurous artist and woman, she has absorbed the cultures of the continents she has traversed. Today, she speaks and sings in English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and French, never settling down neither in a city nor in a musical style.
