Following recent events, Dr. Greger has reached out for my help to assist him in fact-checking his work to ensure that future videos will not have misinformation. Nutritionfacts.org has many fact checkers, but per Dr. Greger no one is fact-checking the video content before they’re recorded and Dr. Greger has requested that I be the sole individual to fact-check that work to nip any misinformation in the bud going forward.
I have mixed feelings about this. For one, Dr. Greger continues to misrepresent my critique of heart disease reversal, and so far has refused to discuss the topic with me. On the other hand, Dr. Greger has one of the largest platforms in disseminating health information to the vegan community, and it will make a huge difference for legitimate information to spread.
After careful consideration, I have decided to swallow my pride and help Dr. Greger for the greater benefit of our community.
To be clear, this doesn't mean I am associated with NutritionFacts.org and it does not mean that I am going to have the time to correct everything Dr. Greger puts out. If more misinformation comes out, it doesn't mean I necessarily had vetted it. It also does not mean that I now agree with Dr. Greger on any of my previous disagreements - or his misrepresentation of my views and refusal to discuss them. It just means I will try to do what's best for our community.
I want to also make it clear that I will not be taking any payment for this. Everything I do will be a favor.
I will also extend this offer to other public figures in the vegan community that I strongly disagree with on many things. If you want my help, just reach out and ask. My time is limited, but I will try to do what I can.
I really hope that this sparks a newfound commitment to truth in our movement.
