AstroStace

Update May 21!

I am slowly in the process of demonetizing all my videos, I was never in it for the money or the glory. I just like to help people. This way you can rest assured i'm not making a video only to trigger an algorithm or as click bait. I have been a bit disillusioned with it all lately, and hopefully this will help.
Instead if you wish to support me you can buy me a coffee or beer instead :) entirely your choice though!

To be honest, the ads don't really bother me too much. If you're spending your own time making informative and enjoyable content then you deserve some reward.

Hey Stacey! This is a honourable decision, even though I highly doubt that anyone ever thought that your channel is about anything else than your passion for astronomy 😄 I'm really looking forward to watching every future video of yours!! Cheers! -Chri

A very admirable choice Stace, and something I have very strong feelings about myself as a content creator with a little peek behind the scenes. There's way too much disingenuous content on this platform and we are all in desperate need of more educators. I think you fill that role very well. As food for thought though, consider that even if you demonetize your own content, it doesn't mean that YouTube will stop running ads on your content, it just means that they will collect all the money themselves, and if there's going to be ads either way, I think you absolutely deserve whatever revenue that generates in compensation for your time and effort. For me personally, I choose to avoid all forms of sponsorship, paid content etc...those are the areas that I believe present the most ethical issues and it might be a good compromise to think about.

Stace, I've always enjoyed your videos, whether or not you get paid for them. Making a few pennies, or whatever it is you make is simply one more indicator of how well you're doing, since I think you get paid for the number of views, right? But, if you get paid or not, if you have ads or not, I'm still impressed enough with your videos that I want to watch them.

Thank you for your great work, Stacey! I've always liked your channel and you don't have to compete with anyone. Take your time to recover. And give Luna a hug from me :-) . Cheers! Btw, I wrote a spelling failure and tried to correct it but it's not possible anymore after posting (at least not from my side): "bear" should be "beer" :-D.

@OlliesSpace

Just read the comments, not feeling well certainly sucks, I've dealt with health issues for years which can certainly get you down. Hopefully you start to feel better soon.🙏

I've learnt more useful info from your channel than some of the named BIG astro channels, let's be honest if your using an eqr 8 Pro, it's no longer a channel for the average Joe. No I just need a video on dithering distance and scale.

If the choice is mine I'll buy you a beer! it sounds like you need one! Have you been trolled or something Stace? Unless you're a big name Adsense works out roughly between 50p and 2 quid an hour in terms of time needed to produce content each month. That doesn't seem like a practical money making scheme to me. Ironically I bet you'll find you'll get more money from your buy me a coffee link, but if you spend time making good content you deserve coffee....oh and beer! :D
