Smiling friends is the perfect example of how in an Adult Animated Comedy, you don't need constant dirty/gross jokes. You can write a joke that doesn't repulse the audience and still get a laugh.

Rick and morty slowly got more annoying, and slightly stale. Smiling friends, however, is a god send of creativity and chooses to tell its story telling through a multitude of mediums from realism to terrifying stop motion.
