Maitri

I’m 60.

And people still ask me, “When will you retire?”

But here’s what I’ve learned—
As a doctor, and as a woman who refuses to slow down:

You don’t age because the years pass.
You age when you stop moving.
When you stop learning.
When you stop living.

You age when you stop believing in yourself.
You age when you silence your curiosity, your laughter, your fire.
You age when you hush the little child inside who still wants to explore, dance, create.

I’ve seen it up close—in my own family.
The moment people retire from an active life, the decline begins.
Not just in the body, but in the spirit.

So this World Brain Day, let me remind you—

Your brain is still listening.
Still learning.
Still growing.
Still adapting.

Use it.
Challenge it.
Nourish it.
Because when you stop using it,
you slowly start losing it.
Keep moving.
Keep learning.
Keep believing.
That’s how you stay alive—in every sense of the word.
