My POV as a ex mercy OTP- I still mostly play support but I play lots of different characters. I think she’s a fun character for people but for me she personally lacks a level of play making I want in my comp games. It doesn’t feel like I have much impact compared to other supports. On other supports I feel like I can change up my playstyle to suit what’s needed but mercy really only has one good playstyle. I played her mostly for her fun movement but when they started nerfing GA I fell out of love with the character and felt she really lost a lot of her fun and strength. Even a good mercy will struggle in a super fast paced dive with her new cooldowns.

Personally i think she’s always been fine. To me she hasn’t really felt much different since they originally changed her kit to the long cooldown rez. I do sometimes feel like i’m not doing enough as her though, mostly because she feels like a healbot most of the time. I would like if her main weapon would give buffs beside heal and damage boost to make more of a difference and to reward actually sticking to one person. Maybe like heal beam can increase speed and dmg beam can increase bullet speed. Idk, I just wish they could find a way to make mercy FEEL more rewarding, even if I usually am making a big difference playing as her anyway

The GA cooldown time is what really matters to me. Ever since they nerfed her GA, I feel like they basically ruined her😐

I think right now she’s better than she was last season with the buffs that she received

To me she went downhill when they started nerfing GA, wich to me is the most fun aspect of her and what makes her impactful (her healing might be low, but a dead support does 0 healing, baiting cooldowns and ults an time trying to kill her, etc). The devs just dont know how to balance her or what makes her fun ( the 5 ammo buff 🙄) and even when they try changes they are so afraid of DPS crying that revert without even trying to balance it ( triage healing) they could have tried lowering the %, or make it only active on valk, etc, instead full revert then leave her even more nerfed than she was before the Buff ( active GA instead of the 2.5 GA in the triage state). I'm kinda done playing OW, Mercy is the only reason I play OW and its becoming frustrating and boring to play

shes my highest lvl hero and the hero i enjoy playing the most bc of her ga tech, but ive found i havent enjoyed playing her as much lately :( even in matches where i know i can get value as mercy i have to swap to someone who can do dmg... the times i have the most fun with her is mirrorwatch lmao, id love if they could implement the dmg boost doing actually dmg bc it would give more value to pocketing close range people

For me... It all started to go down with the ga nerfs. Ye she needed some, she was hyper mobile, but it's not fun to have you ability loocked down by 3s and forcing a playstyle of being behind a wall, because if u go out to help anyone, most of the time u will die because it's locked lol. For me it's playstyle though, it may need a rework, but i think most people will agree that her fun comes of its movement. With her will always be a permanent discussion of: res is broken, dmg boost is broken... And all because of her pocket style behind a wall that was forced lol I feel that if they did something so maybe mercy would interact more in teamfight, and could actually fly where needed would help s lot. But idk

Mercy is (or was) super fun to play, the idea of a character giving up her own damage to assist her team is great. She Flys around and is a mobile hero which is super cool. She isn't that difficult to pick up but the higher u go in ranks the clearer it becomes how low her value is. Don't get me wrong a good mercy will always find a way to make a difference but that difference is on a really long cooldown, whether that be rez, assisting a teammate with their ult or Valk. When I play mercy now as a mercy main, I always see myself looking to want to switch. Because what a different support could bring to the table is sooo much more than what I can bring as mercy. In this last week of playing mercy I have barely even been using damage boost(as someone who like to push for a 75% dmg boost im looking at a 55). My healing even though lower just seems to be more valued or better In most situations.(unless u have a good not even decent, the dps u pocketing has to be good or else it feels like a bring no value to this team...) yes u can look for opportune moments to damage boost both ur dps and even tank to get good damage boosted. But in most games this isn't possible cause ur dps is taking off angels, u tank is holding the line and the other dps wants flank. And after all this u will find a doom, a sombra and a stray bullet from the heaven all tryna either kill u and then u need to help ur second support. With all these things happening u would think mercy a hero can't heal herself and relies solely on movement would use that to survive. But GA has let me done soo many teams it may aswell be competing with the Mariana Trench for which could go lower.( I got stuck on a freaking bin at some point). Ga sees a person, does a slight move forward, then decides that the person was infact not in my line of view(after they just peaked me) thus it didn't work and i died or even lost the game. The cooldown is too long as her single source of survival. Then for her second source of survival is the little and I mean little health u get from healing someone who is hurt. If they full health well then F u and ur passive cause it is useless. Mercy also having the hit box of a truck because ain't no way I'm getting pinned by a rein the caught a glimpse of my wing. I once slow decent of the castle after first point defender side (eichinwalde)and mid air got shattered. As mercy the best or rather most significant thing u can do in a battle is rez, it is a very valuable ability there is no mistake there. But when this ability has the longest cooldown in the entire game( u know what that is still kinda reasonable because u literally bring a teammate back). But this ability not only gives u harsh movement bonus, actually makes her hit box bigger cause she opens her wings but also is suseptible to all kinds of cc in the game. it's not instant as to give a windows of opportunity to stop her which is fair. It isn't a nice ability for both mercy or the enemy team. Mercy and her concept are great but she falls wayy to short in both carry potential and genuine value in comparison to her competition. As a cool ability to gives is something like define protection. All it does is gives damage reduction(no it will not be able to be used while rezzing ) to mercy for like a second, kinda like take a breather except she isn't getting healed just damage reduction to her(around like 75% idk how the numbers would work out) basically what this ability does is that if mercy takes a certain amount of damage and a threshold is met she will unleash an aoe aura similar to brig inspire where any ally in this aoe will get her damage boost buff or maybe even like a healing aura(which seems more fair, in my opinion if it were damage boost it would be a great offensive and play making abilty if u are close to ur team and meet the requirements[if u are damage boosting an ally it wont stack the damage boost] while if it were the healing aura it would be a good defensive utility) as though mercy had her beam on u(this aura does not affect mercy in anyway) Also their were absolutely no changes to mercy what's so ever this season😭

I honestly think she should be reworked. She has very little carry potential. I like the thought process of mercy though (assisting the aggression) so idk how they could balance her kit around it. But ultimatly she needs a rework even if her identity shifts. I still like her character design (she is pretty, graceful and angelic) and personnality but I've stopped playing her

Now that I know she's not being adjusted for season 13: a quickplay warrior's perspective. I still love her, but she's sloooooowly dropping off my most played. Not because I don't want to play her, but because of team comp, whether that be the enemies or my own. The most fun part of her kit is obviously her mobility. GA go brrrrrrr. I actually hate playing her 'optimal' niche - the pocketing playstyle. I receive 20 lashes every time I need to follow a Pharah around. 'Triage' is a sUbOpTiMaL 🤓🤓🤓 playstyle, but I get to use her mobility to its fullest. Unironically, I think I really would've liked her previous triage-based rework if they had kept GA at 1.5s and not implemented sympathetic recovery. A problem with her current state is that any adjustments to superjump are going to affect slingshot because anything superjump can do, slingshot can technically do (just more inconveniently). I'm not sure how you go about separating the power between those two abilities without just going back to her OW1 state. On playstyle complaints, tbf I agree pocketing can get annoying, but I've also been the only one shooting the opposing Mercy just floating around on point when I'm on Moira/Kiriko/Juno, so I don't think I can trust the QP players' judgement lmao. Rez is cheesy, but I really don't care when there's one-shots and insta-kill combos. Fight cheese with MORE cheese! Cheddar! Mozzarella! Pepperjack! CHEE

TLDR: What are your thoughts on Mercy? (This is for both Mercy players and Mercy haters). I want to make a video discussing her niche and balance and what the player base thinks, and want some general opinions on the hero currently.
I’m planning to make a more discussion based video later talking about the state of Mercy and how she’s been balanced. I think we can all agree that Mercy is one of the worst supports currently and I want to explore why she’s bad but also why her kit is fundamentally flawed (she’s unfun to play as and against). She has a niche she fits into well, but that niche is historically something that many people find frustrating to play against.
I also want to talk about how the addition of new supports has affected this, as well as other things. It’s an open ended type video, where I’ll be thinking of ideas for the hero that could make the hero more balanced and more fun for Mercy players while also being less frustrating for Mercy haters lol
I’m not planning to start working on this video until after the start of the next season, as I want to see if she receives any balance changes and see what happens in the next set of patch notes so that can be taken into consideration when writing the script.
In the meantime I would like to know your thoughts on the hero if possible. Do you still find her fun? Do you think her niche is healthy for the game? Do you think complaints about her playstyle are overdone? Does she need buffs, nerfs, a rework, etc? Let me know here, and I’ll take that into consideration for this video.
Thanks, have a great day and I’ll see you soon.
