Bobby Darin

In October 1962, Universal’s “If a Man Answers” premiered. It was the second film starring Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee together. Bobby not only co-starred, but also wrote the film’s title theme, “If a Man Answers,” and the love theme, “True True Love.”

Yes, I did see "If a man answers" back in the fabulous 1960's. It was one of the first films they made together after Sandra Dee gave birth to son, Dodd. Since Sandra was a protege of the Universal International bigwig Ross Hunter, I'm sure he must have produced this one too, in addition to "That happy feeling". Bobby's career was going places as he was riding on the coattails of his wife's super-success. Though he enjoyed immense popularity, I personally felt his voice was mediocre. The 60's produced some of the best American singers ever: Connie Francis, Andy Williams, Paul Anka, Johnny Mathis, Pat Boone, Bobby Rydell, Frankie Avalon. Incidentally, Stephanie Powers had a minuscule role in the movie as a model who poses for Darin and makes Dee pea-green with envy.
