I will soon be in MONTREAL! I’ve got about a week there! Do you have any recommendations as to what I should see? Museums, architecture, history, urbanism, transit, etc.

In terms of the “usual” - Old Montreal and the Old Port park. Ride the ferris wheel. Hike up the Mountain (it’s a bit taller than Nose Hill from ground level) - you can take the steep stairs from Peel or the long route from the base along Parc Avenue - view things from the Belvedere. On the other side of the mountain, visit the Oratory (and watch the sunset from the steps). Ride to the top of the tower at the Olympic Stadium. Walk around the Plateau, check out the side streets, eat everything (the secret specialty is rotisserie chicken). Neighborhoods to check out: Hochelaga along rue Ontario both east and west of Pie-IX blvd - the east side is Maisonneuve which has fancy older housing stock. Downtown (rue Ste-Catherine) to explore the underground city. Verdun to walk rue Wellington. Westmount or Outremont for gawking at rich folks’ houses. (Ave. Bernard in Outremont has great bistros). Walk or bike along the Lachine Canal from the Old Port to as far west as you want. Have at least one dinner at L’Express on St-Denis. Watch CityNerd’s recent visit video and The Life-Sized City episode on Montreal (on the TVO website).
