Silence, crystal-clear water, and not a soul around… Welcome to Baik… no, Khuvsgul!
Lake Khuvsgul is often called the younger brother of Baikal, but with one big difference: there are almost no people here. Just you, nature, and incredibly pure water.
In the summer of 2024, we travelled to this incredible place. The silence, fresh air, and feeling of complete unity with nature were truly special. Watching the water’s surface surrounded by mountains was an absolute pleasure.
How to get there? 🚘 From Ulaanbaatar: 757 km, with Murun being the nearest city. From there, it’s 101 km to Hatgal, where we stayed.
Where to stay? 🏡 Hatgal (on the southern shore) has guesthouses, campsites, and even small hotels. It’s a tourist-friendly place, and there’s an entrance fee for the national park.
This destination is perfect for those looking to escape the city noise and recharge in solitude, surrounded by yaks and fresh mountain air.
