A few months ago I DM’d Jaya wondering if she wanted to collab on a demo I had exploring my thoughts and fears on whether motherhood was right for me. Immediately I felt a connection from the first voicenote she sent over (at rapid speed). Our perspectives took different angles and we talked about how they’re constantly changing over time. We’re both shaped by culture, our friends, our own parents. In this patriarchal society, there’s a significant comprise that mother’s often make compared to father’s: body, career, finance, to name a few. We observe it in friend’s lives, in media, and some of us have been subject to this inequality in our own upbringing. The epidemic of absent fathers: physically, and emotionally. I’m 29 years old and this shit ain’t news! Society moves at a glacial pace supporting mothers, I’m not ready to make that sacrifice yet, BUT WOULDN’T I MAKE A GOOD FATHER.
